i bet those won't the final headlights... It is something which looks like an assebly they can pop out and swap with the final version...
do they really need the final headlight assembly on the prototypes? They are still working out the performance and integration of the car, headlights would not have a significant impact on that...

The Z28 is Dead
From Leftlanenews...
If you’re a Camaro fan, you might want to look away. This one is gonna sting a little — or a lot. Put simply, there will be no Z28 Camaro. That’s right: the program has been given the axe.
Rumors started making the rounds on Tuesday of this week about the uber-Camaro’s demise. After doing some checking around with very well placed sources, we’re afraid those initial rumblings are true.
The Z/28 was set to feature the fire-breathing LS8 motor. A 6.2L, small block V8 with a roots-style supercharger that was supposed to be good for 500 to 550 horsepower. With the Z28 put out to pasture, the SS model will now be the top dog. In the Camaro Super Sport’s engine cradle, you’ll find the LS3 V8 rated somewhere in the 400 to 450 hp neighborhood.
Normally this is where we’d speculate on the reason for this move by GM, though, do we even have to say it?
Current National Average for premium unleaded: $4.507.

Is this totally verified though? There's tons of rumours flying around on any given day.. lots of decision changes - I'd say this isn't written in stone, anywhere. Well I guess I just answered my own question.

There's an SS-everything.... Impala, Nova, Trailblazer, Cobalt even, etc. but there's only one Z28.... and now its gone? ...so now I can say I have one of the last Z28s they ever made?
I doubt it'll help or hurt sales much either way.

I thought the lineup we were getting was this... hasn't the SS always been one step up from the Z28?
V6 - RS
V8 - Z28
V8 S/C - SS
V6 - RS
V8 - Z28
V8 S/C - SS

The SS traditionally (in the 60's) has always been the big-block engined Camaro, the one to run at the drag strip.... the Z28 however was an all-out race-ready road car. Available with no options, suspension designed for handling and a high-revving 5.0 liter small block when the big block Camaros were running 6.5 liter big blocks. The SS was pretty common, while the Z28 was the somewhat limited production model that not many knew about.
The funny thing is the 5.0 (302) made 400 horsepower which was more than the 6.5 SS was rated at.
If I could best summarize it in a way that most here would understand, the Z28 is like a Type-R and the SS is a Type-S... kinda. Traditionally Type-Rs have always been the hardcore, track-ready gutted models with small engines that have serious balls, while the Type-S is usually given to cars with bigger engines and mostly appearance packages.
Of course this changed with the 93+ Camaros.... even though the Z28 and SS have pretty much the same exact engine, people now the Z28 is considered the slower model and the SS is the bad ass ultra fast one. But some people joke around that the SS is just a Z28 with rims, hood, a spoiler and SS badging.... and I wouldn't exactly disagree with them. There's a bigger difference between the 2G TL and TL-S than there is between the Z28 and SS.

Yes, my 99 SS had a functional hood scoop. If I remember right, it was rated at 15-20 HP more than a Z-28

The C5 Corvette is rated at 20-40 horsepower more than the LS1 F-body, yet the LS1 is essentially the exact same thing in either car. The biggest difference is the true-dual exhaust setup in the C5 which yields a few more horsepower, nothing more
The thing about the SS hood is that its not really all that functional until higher speeds.

Production 2010 Camaro Revealed!
The Camaro will come in LS, LT and full-on SS specs and be available with 6-speed manual and auto transmissions. Under the bonnet sit fuel-efficient 296bhp 3.6-liter V6 and 416bhp 6.2-liter V8 engines, which can run on fewer cylinders to improve economy.
It shouldn't just be a burnout king either, handling should be pretty good thanks to an all-independent suspension setup and a StabiliTrak stability control system. 4-pot Brembo brakes front and rear shed the speed on the SS. Weight balance is split 52/48 front/rear too, but the Camaro is a porker, weighing in at more than 1,700kgs.
The interior gets cool LED lighting, leather seats on posher models and dials and gauges inspired by 1969 Camaros. The US gets the car in early 2009, while we'll get it some time after that. Super.

Retro, ghetto, techno interio...
I thought GM was saying all the pics seen in spy shots were just taped up mock ups and production versions were vastly different. wtf?

Looks very good. Interior design is very well done.
If I didn't have a boner for the Challenger, I'd go with this.

I assume that the RS is the appearance package.... if so, wtf is the difference wtf @ the naming period. Camaro LS and Camaro LT? :shakehead
I like it inside and out, but I feel they went just a little bit too retro with the square-ish gauge surrounds and the separated vent open/close dials. Finally..... a shift boot that doesn't look like it has the same texture as concrete!
I do like the retro gauges though.... not exactly ergonomic but they look cool. I don't know about that steering wheel though.... never driven a car with a similar shape to that, maybe its good, maybe it sucks.... all I know is that it looks funky.
Interesting details, not quite angel eyes but the LED rings around the headlights are nice, and its nice to see that they fog light surrounds aren't just some plain old matte black plastic. Wish I could see the back seat though, and does it fold flat? I'm probably asking too much at this early of a time but still. Poor placement of the reverse lamps IMO, maybe if it were higher up, in the same panel as that bowtie badge is in, SW20 MR2 style, it would look a bit better?
@ the floor mats mismatching already... only GM. All that said I'd still buy one if only I had the cash!

Both floor mats are carpet. The driver side floor made as rubber area for the drivers heel, to help cause less wear. This isnt anything new.
