Chevrolet: Camaro News **2018 Hot Wheels 50th Anniversary Edition (page 30)**

Could new Camaro be coming? - - By AUTOWEEK

Faced with the imminent introduction of an already highly praised all-new 2005 Mustang this fall and nothing in the showroom to do battle with it, General Motors is eyeing a return to the pony car wars. So says Chevrolet general manager Brent Dewar when asked about plans for a future Mustang fighter. Says Dewar: “We’re working on that. We’ll have a competitor.”

We’ll see.

Off Topic, but on the same AW page……..
WOW, talk about first year depreciation !!!!!

Amphibious price cut
Gibbs Technologies is upping production and cutting the price of its $220,000 Aquada amphibian (AW, May 17). Responding to criticism of the vehicle’s high price, company founder Alan Gibbs will cut the starting sticker to about $110,000 and boost production fivefold to 500 a year.

I still feel if GM just remade the 1969 Camaro body, stuck an LS1 in it, and updated the interior and saftey items, they'd sell more than they could produce. I'd buy one....

I'll be in line at the Pontiac dealer, since I slightly prefer the '69 Firebird.

IMO if they remade the Camaro with the LS2 and a decent interior, it would be too much money. What you would have is basically a GTO priced vehicle. The new mustang V8 is rumored to start in the low 20s, so thats where GM would have to place its new Camaro LS2. The last F-bodies got pretty damn pricey if you checked a lot of the options most would like.

I'd rather have the LS2.. It's cheaper than the LS6 and probably will have more room for growth in HP in the future since it's 6.0L... It produces almost the exact same specs as the LS6 stock

If a new Camaro is a go, it would be much closer in character with the new Mustang because if not, then it'd be a rebadgetd GTO. They have to do something new, away from the last F-bodies we saw a few years ago. The engine is still going to be the one from the Vette slightly detuned (350HP LS2 or so...).

No I mean like produce the exact same classic body. Give it the RS/SS options, and a limited edition Z28 with the LS6.

So it would look like a classic, but have today's technology. Not a warmed over Aussie coupe like this GTO imposter is..

The LS2 is the new engine in the C6 Vette which will be released shortly. It's basically a an LS1 enlarged to 6.0L with a number of other modifications to produce more power. It has 400/400 stock. I definitely think it would produce a nice start for a new Camaro.

More info on the LS2 can be found here:

http://corvettequote.com/2005_c6_cor...owertrain.html

Personally, I'd want the LS7 (new C6 ZO6 engine replacement), but for a car like the Camaro, I think a LS2 would be more than enough.

These cars actually have power to run, unlike whiny eco-engines who think they can take anything.

I would love for it to come back just as its not like a GTO. I really dont like that car, it does nothing for its original name sake. If they bring back as said before as a 69 w/ls1 or 6 I would be there.

68-69 Camaro was good. The 70-71 was my fav with the pointy open grill, new body style.

I'd love to see it styled like that...but remember, Chevy is doin it.

Ya, now that you mention it I recall seeing the LS2 on the engine for the C6.

Thanx for the info

Also rumor is that the GTO will be getting the LS2 as well.
This is why im guessing that the new camaro will rock the old LS1 engine to keep it more afforable like before

Why kill the Z28 and the TA.....it made no sense what so ever.....then they put out the GTO.....GM...what were you thinking They need to make the Camara and TA a little more exclusive.....and don't make 300,000 V6s to saturate the market!

2007 Chevrolet Camaro Concept?

This thing has hit the web hard and fast. A friend of mine showed me these pictures. I didn't believe him, but he insists they're pictures of the concept to be unveiled next year.

To be built on the GTO platform (OBVIOUSLY!). Also according to my friend, GM has produced 2 other concepts and have yet to decide which will be the official one. Again, nothing is truely official yet, his sources may be BS for all I know. Can anyone confirm this stuff?

Also, I think it's growing on me. I must say, despite that awkward, 80's-style rear, the overall shape is hot.

The difference between this one and the Mustang "concept" is that you could tell that the Mustang was about 95% of what the final car will look like.

There's no way the production Camaro comes looking anything close to this. They would have to completely revise the front and rear fascias and by that time it's a completely different looking car.
