That started happening to me with the CTS about 6 months ago. I love the front fascia of the car. The sides are also nice. The rear, I am neutral about.

I think the "Art and Science" look goes better on those massive Caddy SUVs than the regular cars. I still can't stand the look of the CTS, especially the high, plasticky rear end.

Looks pretty nice....I hope they worked on the fit/finish of the interior. The CTS that I test drove was IMO sub par in interior quality.

I agree. I'm not really fond of the CTS rear-end, but in the CTS-V it seems a little better, probably due to beefier body kit.

Looks like an early '80's Seville in back which was a knockoff of the Hoooper Rollys-Royce bodies.

That was not a look that caught on: http://www.gbiznet.com/streetart/lg-seville.htm

http://www.angelfire.com/fl4/cadilla...s/seville.html

Yes, I know the GS400 also gets by with a stubby rear end but I think that most luxury buyers would prefer the classic 3 box style of the current STS.

its not an exciting interior, probably because i'm not diggin the wood frame, but i think its nice and i wouldn't put the car down any longer because of a poor interior. that screen looks pretty big, most likely has a lot of features put into it.

New STS Coming in 2005

Cadillac has just released the first photos of its 2005 STS, the replacement for today's Seville sedan. The new vehicle is, Cadillac promises, new from the ground up, though it shares some Sigma architecture with the SRX crossover vehicle and the CTS luxury sedan. The CTS-like exterior has a more XLR-like interior, with eucalyptus wood and aluminum accents. The new STS gets its power from either a 3.6-liter V-6 engine or the 4.6-liter Northstar V-8. Rear-wheel drive is standard, while all-wheel drive will be an option. The new STS will be shown at April's New York auto show and will go on sale in the third quarter of this year.

Not bad. The front seems kind of busy w/ too many lines. But overall not bad.

Think they lost the edge that the CTS has. The STS reminds me of the current Deville with the soft edges.

New STS Coming in 2005

This is the first official photograph of Cadillac's 2005 STS. The replacement for the aging Seville sedan is designed to serve as the General Motors brand's flagship, and that's why you'll find the fingerprints of GM "Car Czar" Bob Lutz all over the new car. Lutz pushed back the project a few months in order to soften and add curve to the hard edges originally planned for the '05 STS - as can be seen in the doors and roof line, though overall, the luxury sedan bears an unmistakable similarity to the razor-sharp CTS. Inside, the car will feature a significantly refined cockpit, the first step in Cadillac's effort to upgrade its interiors.

A high-performance V-Series version will follow, perhaps a year to 18 months later, according to Cadillac sources. The new STS will be shown in the "flesh" at April's New York auto show and will go on sale in the third quarter of this year.

The STS is intended to provide an attainable halo around a brand that has "stopped the slide and gained momentum," said Cadillac General Manager Mark LaNeve, but there's plenty of work to do before Caddy can truly reclaim its long-held position as the "standard of the world." Propelled by a December surge in SUV sales, the automaker recorded volume of 216,090 last year, its best performance since 1990, LaNeve declared during the Automotive News World Congress.

How much more growth is possible? Not as much as some might expect. At its peak, two decades ago, Caddy seemed hell-bent to push sales as far as they could go. That move backfired, causing quality problems and diluting the brand image - and eventually led to a collapse in demand, with Caddy sales slipping behind import rivals like Mercedes-Benz, BMW and Lexus. The goal, according to LaNeve, is to rebuild that sense of exclusivity, even if that means holding sales down to no more than around 240,000 units a year in the U.S.

After a series of setbacks and delays, Cadillac is finally making a serious move on overseas markets. It has a new dealer network set to grow across Europe. And there are serious opportunities in China, which LaNeve noted, is the third largest market for BMW's big 7-Series.

China could prove an especially good market for the ultra-luxury car now under development. It's based on the Cadillac Sixteen concept vehicle that proved the big hit of the 2003 North American International Auto Show. A production version likely won't have the big V-16 shown in that prototype, but insiders hint a V-12 is likely. While there's no formally approved program, LaNeve is confident a super-lux Caddy will reach market "in some reasonable timeframe after 2007."

At the other end of the spectrum, Caddy has effectively ruled out a so-called entry-lux model below the CTS. But there could be other products coming. There's an updated version of the DeVille due next year, for one thing. And Cadillac is looking at the hybrid market, perhaps with a gasoline-electric version of the SRX. As the declared technology leader among the many GM divisions, it would make sense to introduce hybrids and other advanced powertrain systems at Cadillac, according to LaNeve.

Caddy's general manager acknowledged that the division hasn't been without its setbacks lately. The launch of the SRX got off to a slow start, he said. Initial emphasis was placed on fully loaded V-8 models priced as high as $60,000. Inventory quickly built up and Caddy had to kick in with incentives. With more V-6 versions priced around $40,000 rolling into showrooms, sales have been picking up sharply. -Paul A. Eisenstein

I like the new STS, seems to be a bit controversial though. Some people are pissed they didn't go with the more aggressive art and science design that Lutz more or less tossed away.

The car is definitely toned down, more upright and conservative....still has the a&s theme though.

Lutz felt this would be the best mix for Seville customers.

Will it attract younger buyers though?...we'll see.

Also, the STS is a full size luxury car, the GS is a luxury sport sedan.

I like the RWD and AWD as an option setup.

Also, I wonder what engine would a V series use. Can it be the LS6 from the current Z06/CTSV? Or will it be the LS2 from the new Vette? Or will it be the rumored 500HP+ engine that the next C6 Z06 will use? Or will it be some other engine, like the rumored, new, V12 engine? Ala-AMG? No matter what, it will be some serious hardware used.

No way I'm paying 60k for a 30k looking CTS. I am sure the interior will be sweet, STS interiors are some of the best. Those blue headlights remind me of those people buying HID look bulbs instead of HID. Not good. Looks SUVish in the front.

Chrysler 300 over this.

No way man. I sat in a Chrysler 300 at the Detroit auto show. I was SADLY disappointed. It has a cheaper feeling interior than my old 1994 Dodge Intrepid. They even had a 300M model on the car show floor that had wheel covers and the crappiest cloth seats ever seen. It felt like sitting inside a Neon. Trust me, but the 300M is a HUGE disappointment.

I think the new STS is very nice. Definitely will be light years ahead of the 300M

The Hemi version was nicer inside than the stripped down version I sat in, but it was still disappointing nonetheless.

300M's don't come with cloth seats or wheel covers. You were probably in a Chrsyler Concorde.

It's sad that Chrysler would do this when they are trying to make their brand more upscale. I wonder how the Boston Acoustics system will sound though.

New Cadillac STS Is Coming to New York

The Cadillac division of General Motors, which will officially unveil its STS sport sedan at the New York auto show in April, released the first images of the car today. http://www.nytimes.com/2004/01/14/au...es/14BEND.html

A 2005 model that will reach showrooms this fall, the STS replaces the Seville but is being promoted by Cadillac as a "luxury performance sedan" competing with the BMW 5 Series and the Mercedes-Benz E-Class.

Like the Cadillac SRX sport wagon introduced last fall to largely positive reviews, the STS will be offered with either a 3.6-liter V-6 engine or the 4.6-liter Northstar V-8 and with either rear drive or all-wheel drive.

The seventh new Cadillac model since 2001, the STS represents one of the most significant steps in the division's effort to transform itself into a luxury brand on par with high-end foreign brands.

A 3.6L V-6 is a big mistake for a top of the line Caddy in my opinion.
