C&D Comparo: TL vs A4 vs 330i vs CTS vs G35 vs IS350 vs 9-3 vs S60R
#1
C&D Comparo: 330 first, IS 350 second, G35 third, TL 4th, etc
Good comparision, the 330 squeaked by the IS 350 by a point. The IS did 0-60 in 5.1 seconds and a 13.7 1/4 mile time
The G35 and TL placed well just behind the newer competiton, which is understandable. The 5th place car was a Volvo S60R and the 6th place a Saab.

I knew C&D would be the ones to squeeze the most out of that puppy. What did the 330i get?

Lexus sure is stirring things up in the segment although they left too big a performance gap in their lineup. IS350 is at the top of the pile while the IS250 will probably end up at the bottom.

They were testing in 100+ degree weather.

No it isnt a slouch at all. Its pretty damn quick, but becuase of the high heat, the huge turbo was effected by it. The lowerst time Ive seen for the S60R is about 5.5 sec.
Ive driven many S60R's(during winter nad high heat like this) and can confidently say its plenty fast when heat is not a problem.

Let me add to that to put it in even more of a perspective. The IS350 AUTO is as fast as MANUAL SUPRA! Even more impressive now ah?
I guess those 306 ponnies may be way underrated. Maybe more like 320HP we got here. Of course we should wait for most tests to confirm.

oh.. ok not quite as fast as the standard Supra Turbo's - which trap 106-107. But still.
Im curious to see what numbers the other mags get for the IS....

Wait'll the GS gets the 3.5L. I really didn't expect the IS, let alone in auto form, be that fast.

How could they consciously place the vehicle in 1st place. They should have pulled the car from the comparison with those problems or not even bothered to publish it. Very sad. Don't get me wrong, I've driven the 330's little brother 325i and it was a nice driving car--albeit a bit boring interior and overpriced--so I can only imagine the 330i being a stellar driver, but had it failed to function properly during the test drive I would never even remotely consider it.

Exactly. There are already a couple of tests from some Canadian site as well as some guy in Cali saying that while the Lexus' VDIM (or whatever it is called) is obtrusive before the car even gets to its true limits, you can still get the tail out before it kicks in. I mean, unless you are truly autocrossing the car or something, the handling will be impressive for 95% of the people driving the car to THEIR OWN limits (not the cars' limits). So yeah, it's nice to see that the IS will haul total a$$ going straight and be tame for the m0r0ns entering the twisties...
I'm getting this for sure. The local dealer will start accepting deposits at the end of the month. Totally loaded IS350 w/ navi, Levinson sound, aero, etc expected to be around $44k...
