I wouldn't hope all too much.

Hope instead for a new engine.

What engine are they going to put in its place? Something we haven't seen yet?

I thought that the GS were going to get a variant of the turbo mill that were used in the Saturn Sky. It'd be nice to have the DI 3.6 being used in the CTS though.

The 2.0T. We see various versions of it in Buick, Chevy, Saab, Pontiac, and Saturn vehicles.

The version in the concept car had 255 horsepower and 295 torque, but rumors say that GM will pump up the horsepower because of the surprised 274 horsepower Hyundai GDI engine for the Sonata and Optima.

As I currently drive an SI, I'm looking for something a bit more pleasant to drive. I love the SI but it wasn't my 1st choice. I wanted the Lexus IS which I love but the insurance was too high. I'll be keeping a close eye on this and the next gen IS.

The buick looks good, the interior looks great and the AWD is a huge plus. I'm curious as to how it'll drive. Hopefully they don't gimp this thing because I'd give it serious consideration.

They seem to have good things to say about it ... I am really looking forward to the review of the GS.

That's the one I'd want. Even if it takes me a few years to get one.

It is interesting that the reviewer mentions the TSX as the competition to undercut and the plant manager (in the second half of the video) saying that the plan is to build 30K/yr - about the TSX volume level.

The GS seems like it might really have it all. The looks of the car are great. The interior looks great. I hope the GS has enough motor to satisfy.

I really hope they don't remove the Active 4x4 hardware though. I remember Bob Lutz said it would be FWD.

I bet it will at least get close.

Plus, Regal GS or TSX V6? Exactly....

2012 Regal GS to be unveiled in Miami tonight

Sadly, it looks like the 255hp turbo is going to be the engine that's offered. It'll have more HP and TQ than the A4 so I'm focusing on the positive rather than what it won't have.

Thumbs up 2012 Regal GS

• Ecotec 2.0L turbocharged and intercooled engine rated at an estimated 255 horsepower (190 kW) and 295 lb-ft of torque (400 Nm)
• Six-speed manual transmission, with six-speed automatic to be offered later
Front wheel drive :thumbsdow

The GS is supposedly going to start around $36k and probably hit $40k or so.

If the Buick is as good as the A4, then I would consider this car to be a better option ... I think it's amazing in person and I would love to have one.

$36K seems a bit high. It's a nice car but I can't over the fact that it weighs over 3700lbs. Buick certainly seems to be taking a chance offering only the 6MT to start.

The interior looks

HP is a bit of a let down, considering the Sonata = 274.

But Front wheel drive?!?!?!?! Seriously? WTF?!?!?!

The GS looks outstanding in person. Love this car.

I thought they mentioned there was going to be an AWD version? Did they nix that?

Don't want another FWD car.

Since it doesn't have AWD, I'd rather get the Maxima over this for the same price.

The regular Regal seemed to be quite a disappointment as far as Car & Driver was concerned so lets hope the GS is significantly better. Looks great, although I'd still love to see a more aggressive grille.

The Regal CS with the NA 4-cylinder gets panned because of the engine. The CSX turbo is much more highly regarded.

That said, if the car is FWD, I wouldn't get one.

Sorry, I did mean CSX Turbo. I was referring to the latest C&D where the turbo was beaten by a V6 TSX and CC.

It's official. GM screwed up again. I had high hopes but wow, they really screwed the pooch.

I was saddened by the loss of the V6 Turbo, but I got over it since most of the car was carried over. Even with only a 255HP I4 Turbo, it would still have been a great A4 Quattro alternative. Now, with the lack of AWD, Buick doesn't have any sedans that I would want to even consider buying.

Wait, when was anything mentioned that this car was going to be anything but FWD? I assumed everyone knew this was a rebadged Opel which is a main stream mid sized FWD family sedan.

Not sure it was every mentioned but rather people hoping that the GS would be the top of the line Opel model with the Turbo V6 making 325hp and AWD. However like normal the Europeans get all the cool shit when it comes to cars and the Japanese get all the cool electronics first.

+1. Current grill looks IMHO a little like a "plain Lexus type." A little more aggressive grill would be nice, though not too obnoxious like Acura's power plenum. The rest of the car looks beautiful.

No AWD = No sale from me. In its current FWD flavor, I would opt for the 4 cylinder TSX or Mazda 6 instead.

^^ If given the choice I'd take the Buick in a heartbeat over the TSX and Mazda 6.....those two cars are by comparison.

It was mentioned some time ago that it would(may) have AWD option ala VXR/OPC. Just that it would have the toned down Turbo I-4 instead of the TT V6.

:agreed:

Those bashing it for FWD, its No different than Acura (fwd) other than it looks 100x better.

Would be nice if it was RWD like the CTS but we pretty much knew it wasnt going to go that route

WTF? FWD? You fail, GM. I mean... not even as an option?!

With every passing day, GM reinforces my belief that Ford >>>> GM

While quite a bit nicer than a TSX it is a bit disappointing the AWD option did not materialize. Maybe GM didn't want a car here that would make the upcoming Cadillac ATS seem unnecessary.

I don't think GM needs to worry about that. If the price point that Charliemike is talking about is true - 36K and up - the ATS will be more than needed. Especially since it will be a RWD platform that will be developed into a coupe and more than likely a "V" version as well.

I've been reading about the Regal GS and it looks like 0-60 times in "less than 7 seconds".

I am disappoint!

That was not realistic for the price/segment Buick is aiming for with this model. They'll have trouble moving these if the 36K price is real, especially if they are trying to peel off TSX/A4 buyers.
