Worth it to avoid the fugly.

Also AWD is important where I live and it's added for performance purposes beyond launching. The AWD M3 is likely faster on all counts compared to the RWD one.

Beautiful colors, beautiful interior, and beautiful rear end.

However, that front is just hideous. I haven't hated a front end that much since the 09 TL. What blows my mind is the current M340i has such a beautiful front end. Why not use that?

It'll all come down to sales. If the sales are good they won't change it, but if the sales are bad we have a chance.

But, IIRC, AWD is only available on the C43. C63/63S are RWD only.

Like Hammond said about the OG Panamera. At least you don't have to look at it while you're driving/enjoying it, until you catch a reflection in a window/building.

So...okay. We're sayin' that if a car performs good, it can look like a Pontiac Aztek or worse.

And no, I'm not comparing this new nose to the Aztek but just saying that we're okay with ugly-AF cars so long as they are fast. I dunno, I think part of the enjoyment of a vehicle is the whole package but sure, if I'm allowed to own as many as BoostedJack, sure...?

No, not at all.
Maybe for something like the Gumpert Apollo, but for a mass-market model, aesthetics are needing to be acceptable.

The Apollo looked like that for a reason though, it wasn't for aesthetics.

Well, hang on...the ugly new nose has a reason too for BMW. It's a social experiment to see just how many suckers will buy an ugly car.

M performance parts are already released...

i am shocked that the entire rear end including exhaust look all look different... usually it is just a diffuser.

But just only look at the rear...

Dont look at the front.

I can't wait to see the aftermarket grille and bumper combo.. since replacing a bumper will not fix the problem.

Again, this new Mer is a social experiment. Believe it. BMW has reached a zenith in its rep with buyers that it KNOWS it can get away with beyond stupidly ugly and still sell. The Bangled 5er and then X6 being the prior case studies that proved their point.

I think this is as good as it gets.. The trick is to hide as much as possible with colors...

BMW designers must be very proud that everyone is trying to figure out how to un-do their work before the car is on sale

It looks infinitely worse with all those "performance parts". More like a rice burner with fart can exhaust than a high end sport sedan.

At this point, those dont really matter as much as hiding the front grille...

Feels like the old Acura TL with the beak and people were painting it so it doesn't look so terrible. Here is a mock-up of a snap in to divide the hideous grille in half - I'm not sure if it makes it look any better though...

If pics don't work: https://g80.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh...&postcount=460

I wouldn't say it's worse than the 4G beak, but it's on the same tier. At least with the 2012 MMC the 4G looked okay. Plus the beak is a lot easier to change compared to whatever potential solutions there may be for the bumper.

Would there be enough outcry that an aftermarket front bumper cover replacement becomes popular? Probably not, because $$$$, but still...

I think that painted bar makes the front 1000% better. Still not great but much better.

Looking at that pic more, if they make that part available, I'd seriously consider this car for my next one...

The person who made that render actually did a 3D model of it and says they have plans to produce the part in both black and painted OEM colors, so I think you will see it.

I am also pretty sure 3rd party companies will offer a bumper / grille replacement of some sort. Someone from IND has said "maybe" when asked if they will be producing an aftermarket bumper / new grille for the G80 / G82. Certainly not a confirmation of it - but considering the horrified reactions by most, I think someone will produce one. It will be interesting to see what they come up with, if someone does produce one ... As an example, IND makes a Carbon Fiber replacement front bumper for the F80 M3 / M4 ( https://ind-distribution.com/product...r-front-bumper ). It isn't cheap by any means, but non-carbon replica F80 bumpers go for $500. I would think you could potentially create a replacement bumper for the G80 for ~$1500 or less, plus painting.

I still have another 2 years before the lease on my G20 M340i is up, so hopefully BMW either comes to their senses and shrinks the grille, or there's an aftermarket option. Or I'll be looking at something else

^ Well you could just go for the non-M model which looks just fine lol.

I think that car looks pretty good with the colored bar across the middle. That's literally all it needed.

I already have a M340i currently, so if I opted for the non-M model, I'd end up with the same car basically

The driving dynamics of the M340i are good (esp compared to the F30 3 series), so I'd like to get into the G80 M3, just not digging the looks so far.

Remember..This is not just for M3/M4. They can also use a modified mold for the 4 series as well.... But i think the ones in the 4 series are even harder to fix...

Fucking BMW...

I think it looks better and now if they also paint the bottom half of the grille black to hide it... I think we could get away with it...

I'll reserve judgement until I see it in person and then see a version with the grille "fixed" in person or at least real pictures. But I have the luxury of time since I won't be car shopping for another 2 years.

Well... i have about 11 months.. minus 3 months of custom built order... so i need to decide by May 2021...

I emailed an Audi dealer to see what kind of pricing for RS5 sportback just to see if it is still not affordable... i then laughed at myself after i got the #.... Um.. hard to justify spending that kind of $$ knowing, you can get a M5 comp for pretty much the same price...

This is the remarkable power of Bimbim though. Even as ugly as fark as this car is, people are just TRYING trying TRYING to find a way to make the car look just a bit more acceptable and like it.

Ugly AF is ugly AF. I get it's an M. But, seriously, this is a social experiment with BMW doing the as they watch how this unfolds and who's sucker enough to pony for this when you could get an RS or AMG that does not elicit vomit and performs just as decently too.

Fully agree but I really want the 6MT and neither of those offer that.
