Acura: ZDX News
Looks good from what I can see so far.
One key note that I should make here though is that this car still IS NOT Acura's true definition of Tier One. The first car representing Acura's definition of Tier One was supposed to be released after the release of the now discontinued NSX replacement in 2010. Most likely the car is going to be the RL. So as nice as this car may be from what we can see, don't mistake it for something it's not supposed to be.

Does anyone feel that sales of this vehicle will canablize sales of the MDX? I haven't read the whole thread so i don't know what their target pricing is, but the MDX is priced so high already, I can't see this guy selling for higher than that. And selling it for lower will hurt RDX sales IMO or MDX sales.

I was wondering the same thing. The only way to avoid canablizing the RDX or MDX is to price it above both.

I think JMT is right that if you need more cargo space or the 3rd row of seats, the MSX isn't going to work.
I can't imagine, sorry, now that I think about it, I can imagine Acura pricing this sucker at or above the price of the RL which to me is stupid because the RL should be considered the flagship of the brand, which it unfortunately is not IMHO.
Pricing it at or above the RL will be retarded IMO. They'll either need to push the RL into a higher market to proparly compete with the likes of the LS, 7 series, A8 series, etc... or introduce a new vehicle to take the ranks of the true flagship of Acura instead of focusing on the niche market that this vehicle serves as someone already mentioned.

This thing is gonna price in between the MDX and RDX.
If this is above the MDX....it will only make producing this CUV even worse.
I think the MSX is a product of "it was already in the pipeline...too far along" prior to the fuel price jump and the worldwide economic disaster.
I don't think the current market place is looking for more CUV options.

why it has to cost more or less of the MDX? it could cost the same...
I doubt this will be priced above an MDX. Acura doesn't make their cars a certain price just because, and certainly not to keep in line with their competitors, as Acura is much more reasonable.
Depending on the actual equipment on this car, there may be a pretty substantial difference between base and tech, and possibly sport.
They can equip it like a base MDX, for 38K which is 3k below the cheapest MDX, and have a tech at 41-42k with Nav, ELS, Keyless entry/start, cooled seats, back up camera, and power tailgate. Sport can be 43-44k with bigger wheels and tires, rheomagnetic suspension, and auto leveling headlights.
Please, please, please pre-wire it for DVD system rather than offer a separate package that is impossible to find.

AutoWeek: Acura Teases New Car Headed For New York Auto Show

Our friends at Acura are bringing a new car to the New York auto show next month.
On Monday, they gave us a little tease--an overhead view of the car, albeit with many details hidden.
What we do see in the shot is two door handles, but cut lines for a rear set of doors--possibly rear hinged?
Last year, Acura executives said they would add a nameplate to the lineup in 2010 in a bid to become a tier-1 brand.
"We will have an all-new vehicle," said Dan Bonawitz, vice president for corporate planning and logistics at American Honda Motor Co.
The executives did not offer any clues to the new vehicle but said it would probably fall into a niche segment.
We're sure to learn more when the New York auto show gets near in mid-April.

Acura believed people would actually like the beak.Acura believed people would love the new TL
Acura believed people would love a heavier TSX with the same engine.
Acura believed the RSX + turbo 4cyl was a great combo.
Acura believed the RL was a flagship that everyone would want.
Acura has some serious wrong beliefs.

And what's worse is so many different things we hear. I think at one point they wanted the entire brand to go after Aston Martin and Ferrari.

what is this Acura's answer to the BMW X6?
http://www.vtec.net/news/news-item?news_item_id=821343
We're expecting to see this vehicle revealed at the upcoming New York Auto show. According to sources, look for this new crossover to also introduce Acura's first 6-speed automatic transmission. The engine is expected to be based upon the MDX (or TL's) 3.7L V6.

Exactly.
The MDX fits in the RX, Highlander, X5, market. This vehicle based on sporty agressive characteristics is pitted to go against the X6 which is a CUV itself. The RX and X5 are SUV's. Damn, I can't believe I'm caught up in that damn nomenclature now. I hate the SUV, CUV terms. To me they are all useless. WAGONS/HATCHS FTMFW!

Guys I am sorry to say but this is going to be priced above the MDX. We were told that it will be a low volume vehicle with a very upscale interior and a leather dash. Keep in mind that the MDX starts at $41,750 and goes up to $49,450 so this new crossover could be priced any where in between. We were not told a price range just that it will be of very high quality.

I try to be prompt -- I'm sure I'll be criticized by others here for posting this (for who knows what reason) -- but I'm glad others like you appreciate it!
>>>ACURA'S FIRST 6-SPEED AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION!<<<
Oh well, my 2G TL had a 4-speed auto tranny and I lived with it for 10 years, guess I can live with the 5-speed auto tranny on my 4G TL SH-AWD for 10 years, too.
I don't think it will be priced obove the MDX. It could be priced in line with it though, because the styling of this thing and the MDX is on opposite sides of the spectrum. No one looking to buy an MDX is gonna take a second look at this CUV, and vice versa.
Then again, if they surprise us with more HP(320-350?) plus the 6spd auto, a higher price might be warranteed

by the looks of this, it's clear to me they're going after the X6 and FX with a sportscar-like SUV.
and i'll place my bet on this being priced similar or higher than the base MDX.

then the MDX is going after...?
!
lol!
