I would definately persue the lemon law on your 03! 3 trannys qualifies you Im sure?
Heck just blow your 3rd tranny up and go from there! You will lose too much to get rid of it that soon.

Then, they took my $1K... cash, credit or check!!
need4spd, Acuman... let me know of any new developments from your dealers since you have deposits down as well. I'll do the same.

Wow, they took you SSN and liscence and $1K.
Here it was just a hop skip and a jump, $100 (anouther dealer wanted $250), name, address and color choice did the trick. They said I would get the first to the dealership (I guess the sales manager fibed when he said they have a deposit on 3, as the GM told me not).
Even when I put the deposit on the 04 Audi S4, they only wanted $250, I can not imagine loosing use of $1K for so long (and the dealer getting the intrest). I'm skiping the S4 as it is just too much, and not differnt enough (other than the V8).
Sorry to harp, I guess I would not have done it for that amount.
I'll keep you updated with regards to whatever details the dealer gives me, but unlikely I will get much like the rest of us.

VtechMW,
I agree on the quality - first builds (first month) should be the best (until a year or so passes when quality will pick up again) as the engineers typically are there instructing the line workers durring the first run, and even doing some of the assembly themselves. There will be some growing pains, but Honda usually get the bugs out before production.
If I were buying a Chevy Malibu, I would be concerned and wait the year.
JD Powers recently rated the automakers, Japanesse came out on top, US makers second and Europeans, on the bottom, with the US owned Euros and Jap companies below their wholy owned brothers. - See current autoweek.com car news.

As far as the $1K, I'm not going to stress it too hard. I'll just have them add it in to what I put down on the car. You're right though, it is a lot of money. Karen Radley Acura requires the same deposit.
Pohanka, had two deposits down before I got there. Not sure how many they have now.
What type of options are you getting on your TL?

With all those problems, why would you buy an 04?
Good luck otherwise!

It is my belief and hope this car was an exception.
The car is an excellent value and the service is fantastic.
I used to own an ES-300 and this service is just as good as the Lexus.

Sorry, did not mean to push. Good Luck!
Ordered Pearl White / Ebony 5AT - but if HPT is AWD or high output HP and Brembo's with 6MT only, I will have to break my promise to my wife and get the 6MT. (This would be my first automatic ever)
No Nav - looks cool, but for me, I don't have a use for it, many people I know do though.
Would also like the active cooling seats if Acura has them (like BMW, M-B, and others mentioned earlier, shure keeps the body cool against the leather seats in the cars I have been a passenger in).
As for other options, don't know utill they tell us.
Posts are sure slow today, not much about new features of the 04TL
This is only my second day of posting, how do I keep in touch with you about progress of the order?

Like the current TL, they will be giving them away in the second year.
MSRP for a brand new model - Sure
More than MSRP for a brand new model - :sqntfawk: :pfawk:

Yes Post an option sheet if you have one, that would be nice to see

jjstokes, congrats on your deposit! Don't pay more than MSRP, however. That's ridiculous. Find another Acura dealer with more reasonable terms if you have to.
Can anyone post the pre-order info, or give more details about the 18s. I hate chrome, so I hope they'll have an 18" polished silver finish option.

I am unclear where you are, as you say you are calling NJ, but in SoCal?
JJStokes - Anyway, if you want low cost deposits and MSRP or less, and willing to come to westchester, I'll put you in contact with a few dealers with low deposits 100-250.

I agree no chrome for me, I hope the window moldings are black like on the spy shots also.

Is it possible that all 04 TL trim levels will be AWD with the VTM-4 seen in the MDX in the standard trim, and a special, performance-enhanced AWD-system (VTM-4+??) on the HPT??
Just a thought...

Even if it was only two weeks out of the year, we need them!

I found this photo in this week's Autoweek. It's very small, so these are the best scans I could get of it. Nice to see it in a different color
The Autoweek article reads:
TL, as promised
"Acura showed off its next generation TL in concept form at the New York Auto Show; now here's the real thing undergoing tests in preparation for its introduction as a 2004 model. Taking cues from the concept, the next TL is shorter and sportier, and rides on the all-new Honda Accord platform that debuted last year. Look for potential horsepower from a larger displacement V6 to top 280 in the TL, along with a possible all-wheel-drive option. We apologize for getting readers' hopes up in our June 30 issue, but if it's any consolation you can find a slew of TL spy shots at autoweek.com."

Great post and scan job.
Has anyone heard anything about a trip computer?
My wife has an 03 Accord EX-V6-Navi and thankfully it has a trip computer, but it pales in comparison to the one in my 97 Jeep Cherokee.
I am hoping for the following:
Avg speed
Avg MPG
Instant MPG
Distance to empty
Tire pressure
Service required
Total engine hours
Any information would be great.

Thanks for the scan, VtecMW.
I really like the overall shape of the new TL, and it looks even better in color. I can't wait for official pics to come out.
In other related news, autoweek.com reports that Infiniti will offer AWD on the G35 sedan...hmmm, anticipating competition?

I also thought AWD was a little far-fetched, but I am just trying to be optimistic.
