Just curious, how does the Ohio plant stack up against the Alabama plant (where they make the new Odyssey)...or is it too early to tell? Any big problems being reported with the new Odyssey???
Geez, besides the TSX, its getting damn hard to buy a Japanese car built in Japan!

You may be on to something, though...I wonder in ten years if only the top of the line cars from Honda/Acura, Toyota/Lexus and Nissan/Infiniti will actually be made in Japan.

I still have yet to see an RL...sheesh, they can't be selling that rare.

justinjsw isn't gone, he posted something a few days ago (12/3/04). He started this thread hopefully he can confirm the RDX being at Detroit, although it's far ahead of the schedule he anticipated.

Hopefully something will be at the auto show, mostly likely they will wait till NY. It would be great if both the new crv and rdx were introduced near the same time.

I asked the dealer yesterday when I picked up my 05 TSX () about the RDX, and he was certain there is gonna be a hybrid engine on it. Ofcourse we all know to take a dealers word with a pinch of salt, but interesting nevertheless.

I can't wait for it. Drove my CR-V today in a bad snowstorm. While other cars (and even some SUVs) were slippin and sliding, the CR was solid, and I could do highway speed limit with no problems. I think it may be the best car to drive in winter weather ever, or at least probably the cheapest best car to drive in winter weather.
My only beefs with CR-V are a lack of power, needs a more lux interior, and a more comfy back seat for the in laws - all of which hopefully will be remedied with the RDX..

I am looking forward to it as well... though I think an MDX might be more of what we're looking for (and to be honest, I'd prefer a TSX wagon over either ). Only time will tell.

RDX should be out in the market during Spring of 2006 as a 2006.5 model, just like the TSX almost 2 years ago. I can't wait to see it. My CL lease will run out by 11/05.

Where is this information coming from, how accurate?.. Furthermore, why would they simply just call it a 2007 model?
Oh, I can't wait, this is around the time I will be going for my next car.

W O W!... looks awesome, I know sketches are usually very aggressive, but if it is anything like that... very schweet!... sign me up. Better be Hybrid and have some room behind the back seats for a dog!

The RD-X concept looks promising. Big question is does the interior look it's based on the Accord or the CR-V?
Dash definitely looks Accord/TSX-like. Can't wait for it to make rounds on the car show circuit.

From the concept sketches, it looks promising! The profile is similar to the FX35/45
I hope the interior is not based on the CR-V, as the car is rumoured to be. I like having a middle console seperating the driver and passenger.

I can't believe they are still calling it the RD-X concept. This clearly has nothing to do with the previous RD-X concept of a few years back - thank God, that thing was fugly!!

DETROIT 12/16/2004 -- The Acura RD-X Concept vehicle will make its debut at the 2005 North American International Auto Show in Detroit. This concept version of the upcoming Acura entry SUV, which will go on sale in 2006, combines the performance of a sports sedan with the versatility and utility of a premium SUV.
Aimed at active urban professionals and packed full of performance and technology, the RD-X Concept is designed to knife through traffic on crowded city streets and carve up twisty mountain roads. It features aggressive styling, a wide track, bold fender flares and a unique wood and leather interior based on the feeling of an upscale loft apartment.
Additional details on the RD-X Concept will be announced on Sunday, Jan. 9th at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit.

BTW - this should also mean a Fall 2005 release as an 06

How can you tell from those concept photos? Or have you seen others?

Really, you think its that close to being on sale?? That would be awesome but well ahead of previously mentioned schedules. Hope you're right.

The rear doors show the handles and the trunk has a center mounted license plate - thus it's either like the CRV or hopefully a hatch.
What do you make of the roof/sunroof? Looks like the sides are raised and the middle almost seems see-through?

So if it's due out in the fall and (assuming) it offers hybrid technology will Acura beat Lexus and Ford to market with a hybrid SUV?

I dunno guys ... I think this continues to be the lead contender for my TSX replacement. With 3 kids and the Ody as the other car/van, this thing has room to haul 2 of the 3 in a pinch ... all it needs is some true sporty edge and I think they will have me.
This thing has GOT to get IMA ... right??

I like it - the concept interior looks like it will be a departure from current Acura models, a bit more trendy, but as long as the quality of the materials stays up (i.e. not like Nissan) it should be fine. I'm not a fan of elevated rear seats, but I like the sunroof treatment. Can't wait to see it.

I like it too - very pointy!
Good thing it is not the European/Japanese FRV with an Acura badge - i dunno if America is ready for a multi-purpose vehicle like that...
Although i can see some of the FRV's sharpness, the RDX looks more like a 3/4 sized Infiniti FX45, but pointer :-)
The headlights and taillights are straying from the Honda/Acura norm too with some funky, crisp, unique shapes

I was actually in the mall today and saw the X3 up close and personal. Are we expecting the RD-X to be right in line with teh X3 from an exterior/interior dimensions standpoint?

You really don't like holding onto cars for long! Isn't the Ody enough??? I'll bet your first Ody would have lasted another 8-10 years
Man I miss justin
jcg, who is eyeballing the RDX as well

jcg - Nah ... I don't hold on to cars for long ... but if I keep the TSX for 3-4 years that would not be too bad to be honest. What is bad is I promised myself to buy a 1 year old used car next time and not take that depreciation sting again ... my brother does that and he has a Porsche 911 right now (used of course). You can just be smart ... or you can be impulsive
The Ody is great for the wife ... but the TSX is not gonna be around forever and is likely going to be too small in about 2 years and I knew that getting in to it (4-5 year car). We'll see ... I am not a huge SUV fan at ALL ... so this this is gonna have to be 65% sedan, 35% SUV

It looks promising but the sketches are little too blurry to make out the small details. For example, the headlights concern me, I really can't tell what's going on there. Is it dipping into the bumpers, is it swept back, etc.
And don't get too caught up on the interior pics. The MDX concept had a much different interior than the production version.

It'll probably be an early 2007 model released in early 2006 (like the TSX was and the Ridgeline will be). Keep in mind the Honda Ridgeline was shown over a year before it goes on sale.

The US oracle says Fall of 05. And it goes with Acura's trend of releaseing concept cars in the same year.
