Agreed 100% on the grille being way too big. I just don't see how this will fit or look on a car based on an accord platform.
Unless Acura is actually planning on abandoning that platform.

Very little of this will translate to actual designs. Yeah, you'll probably get the superman grille...but much smaller and proportionate to the cars that are wearing it.

Looks good, I especially like the side profile. That grille is huge, but I think that's just to emphasize the new diamond pentagon grille....if it's that big on a production...that's still a good thing for a turbocharged engine...lol...lots of air!
I don't think (and probably many others) the next gen Acura sedans will be RWD. But judging from the Volvo S90, even with a transversely mounted V6 engine with FWD, you can still have FR dash to axle ratio.
My understanding is that Honda doesn't have a new V6 in the pipeline. Most likely they will have a boosted J series (much like what Infiniti did to the VQ) or a new inline-5 turbo engine. Either of that engine combined with eSH-AWD would be pretty interesting IMO - 400hp from engine + 70hp motor power is possible.

The overall look of the car isn't bad. If Acura toned down the front and rear bumpers, which they for sure would if it ever went to production, it would be a nice car.
What bothers and confuses me is why they put this big fat ass on he car, with these big ass flared rear fenders, if it's still FWD. It's like "dammit, we want to be RWD soooo bad, but Honda won't let us"
I think Acura struggles internally with being FWD still, regardless of what management says.

With that said, I bet these big fenders will be toned down a lot for a production model. If this becomes the next gen RLX, then I'd think the end product will have a similar profile to other four-door sports coupe like Audi A7, CLS, and 6-series gran coupe. It might also look something like the Tesla Model S or Panamera.
Whatever it will look like, it will for sure be better than the current RLX...lol

Well according to Marek, the grill will make it to all Acura cars as soon as possible. That means the MMC MDX and RLX will see this huge fugly grill in about a year time.

Acura should put NSX release on hold until 2018 or 2019 so they can redesign car to incorporate new grille then. What's another year or 2 delay since it's been delayed this long already?

AZUser posted a picture of the Lexus concept on which the current spindle grille Lexus models are inspired. It is so ugly and it looks like it can eat a pirate ship. However, Lexus has done a pretty good job of using the spindle grille overall. I'm somewhat hopeful that Acura can do the same here.

That NSX insider at ToV already confirmed that no production car will be based on this, Acura will keep using the Accord platform for its sedans for the foreseeable futures.

...not to mention that only Black, White, Silver, lighter Silver, Darker Silver and Medium Silver will be the only available color!

I think if Acura sold something like the Audi A7 it would do really well. It would have a plenty powerful V6 and transmission (hopefully), good features and tech, and I'd imagine at a price $20-25k lower than the A7.

i think its great. A lot of people seem to be unhappy with how it looks but i like it, its agressive.
also the whole lexus grill thing people are comparing i don't see it as the same, the lexus posted earlier looks like a fat pig with lamprey eel teeth where this doesn't.
obviously i think it needs a trunk, hatch style would be cool.

Biker, who thinks Acura may have gotten close enough this time to not put people to sleep with their designs.

It's definitely a step in the right direction. Although I like the concept it has too many sharp lines for it to be a production car. It's reminiscent of what Cadillac is doing with some of its models. Hopefully Acura has realized that exterior styling matters a heck of a lot in the premium and luxury market. The TLX is a decent looking car with decent sales. The RLX is still very Milquetoast with poor sales. Acura has a chance to grab shares from the other Japanese luxury brands. In my opinion Lexus and Infiniti have gone off the rails with their bizarre design language and styling. I want to like the new IS and GS but I cannot. The Infiniti G and M (I cannot remember the new nomenclature) just look too anonymous for me to spend $40K+ on a car.

I like it too actually. Also, if the new user interface looks anything like the video (especially GPS) it'll be great. Acura's grills have always been a sort of Pentagon in a way, this is just way more pronounced. Overall, I like it, hopefully Acura sticks to something close to this.

Acura said that about the Beak design on the 4th gen, also claiming it was here to stay. How long will they go with another overstated design before they realize its not a good design?

wait till you guys see the "superman" grill on the 2017 MDX

My main problem is that none of the design details will look good on another Accord/Civic plank that has longer overhangs and a family car stance.

Acura went pussy/soft on the 4G (wife's daily driver shawd manual) and changed to a bland ass design...In the minority but I always like the 4g's look...
#78
Acura designs has become very bland. One of the reason why we replaced my wife's Acura with a Lexus NX. Yes the NX design is polarizing with it's huge grille and sharp angular design. But if you're gonna good money for a luxury vehicle, you want it to stand out not blend in... IMO anyways. Acura also need to do a make-over on their interiors as well.... TLX = Zzzzzz.
