4wd TL and j-spec sister

Will the Japanese sister car get awd?
after RL is released will TL get awd or hybrid in 2-3 years?
Does anyone know how G35 sales are or the affect of the release of the new 4wd G35?
If it is a plus for Infiniti, Acura may be forced to stay competitive
What is the TL sister car and when will it be out?
be nice to import folding morrors and other parts common to j-spec cars.

Anyone w/ and info on these topics

I don't agree.

It's true, moreace has started a lot of threads. But they are good threads. If his threads are a problem (which I doubt), then let the mods handle it.

moreace just wants to keep the conversation going, I have no problem with that. After all....you did the same thing when you first started, 2004TL! And I had no problem with that, either.

Can't we all just get along?

I WISH I knew something about an AWD TL.

Thank you Acuraguy, I appreciate it

2004Tl I think many people would know. Lots of people are into and knwo about the G35, teh 4wd is already released and I am sure there is tons of info how it is doing. I just happen to know little to nothing about the car personally. Second of all it is reasonable to assume if it becomes a competitive egde for Infiniti Acura will have to get in the game jsut liek the created teh TSX to keep their buyers from leaving cause that particular market segment wasn't previously adressed by their cars. 3rd of all Acura has a history of how they operate and many long time enthusiast can make an educated prediction on what will come based on previous moves made. I am new to the game and don't have the history so I wouldn't know. many people on this forum are older and can tell you with soem confidence that the expect to see something within 2-3 years following the trends Acura has done in the past. Thank you for your concern, but I don't think the thread was useless. Besides this forum has been kinda dead lately, gotta spark conversation. All you seem to do is move threads and post back and forth between teh 2 forums. Everyone is capable of check them out by themselves, no offense

Further more I currently have an Infiniti and its sister car in Japan is a Nissan Primera. They have options we do not and many club members have swapped parts and managed to find good deals for teh forum. If we had more information it might benefit everyone. Plenty of people got auto folding mirrors which were not offered in the US. I think that is a great feature, especiall in Boston where parking is tight and people hit mine all the time. Again- usefull info

Well you are mature enough to respond in a respectful manner.

Most idiots would start cursing at me and telling me that I am being an idiot telling others what to do.

I did do the same thing and I admitted it

Not really a bad thing, but there might be some reasons for the difference

If I remember (I was here when u started and posted a lot) you are 16 years old, so you are prob in love w/ the car, but not in the market to buy it

I may ask lots of stupid question, but I am in teh market to get one in 2-4 months and I am very picky and don't like going into a situation not knowing everything. These things that sound stupid, believe it or not are important to me. Folding mirrors keep mine form getting hit daily in Boston. 4wd might cause me to trade in the car in 2-3 years adn add hybrid and the car is a definate trade in, in that case I would research a little on resale and ask question about how fast they depreciate. Maybe Honda has never made big changes liek that before in mid model year and I wouldn't have to worry. My car now has a big spoiler which is perfect for parking as I can see the rear of the car. I would not liek a spoiler on the TL, hate the parking assist, and would opt for the camera and find ist extremely useful since my car is smaller and has a better turnign radius for parking. I don't take offense to anything and rarely ever take things personally. U will find threads where people yell at me and really go off, it is all in fun, I sit back and enjoy it . Have to be able to mess around, we are all family here. No worries.

P.S. U aint seen annoying yet

The difference in going to AWD between the TL and G35 is that TL is already FWD so it is already good in the snow. I don't see Acura wanting to add the extra weight and passenger room-hogging humps to a car that is just fine with FWD. The G35 is rear drive and wants to get some of the all-weather market. Honda/Acura have done just fine as FWD specialists only adding RWD/AWD when the situation mandated (its S2000, NSX/SUVs respectively). I think Honda and Acura are doing the right thing with their drive formats even if not always the popular thing.

same siutaition at 04 MDX, Acura was forced to add projector light and side curtain airbag to 04 since Most new SUV has that as standard, while most ppl at Acuramdx.org expect there is no changed in 04 after some changes made in 03.
I think Acura may intro AWD on TSX (Since Accord in Japan(TSX) has it) and TL maybe( I hope they put it in).
I am also in the market for 35k range sedan too. I am thinking between G35 AWD or 04 TL too.
But some people said in the formun that AWD is only good when you stuck in the snow, and VSA is the only thing that prevent you from skidding.
Further More, Acura's AWD system only work at 1, 2 gear or below 25mph. Above that, it is 2wd car.

if the TL doesnt come out with AWD then it's definitely losing market share. the AWD G35 starts at ~$32k without all the options of the TL...if i was in cold weather climate i would seriously consider the AWD G35 over the new TL...

Acura/HOnda VTm-4 info.
and it is printed on the MDX that don't turn on VTM-4 button at high speed, will damage the car.
-------------------
In normal conditions, the VTM-4 system operates in front-wheel-drive configuration; torque distribution to the rear wheels occurs only when slippage is detected.

The 2004 MDX utilizes a unique VTM-4 four-wheel drive system designed to enhance traction on low friction surfaces. Unlike conventional automatic 4WD systems, which react only to wheel slippage, VTM-4 proactively apportions torque from the front to the rear wheels before wheel slippage can occur. When cruising, the system automatically reverts to front-wheel drive for improved fuel economy.

You are not going to see a AWD TL or TSX simply because the platform would have to be highly modified to accept it. That is if it's done via a drive shaft from the front engine. Electric motors on the rear wheels might be possible but again the amount of change needed to add that and the battery would probably mean a new platform which Honda won't do on this go around. All things being equal it's quite a bit more expensive and difficult to design/make a RWD car vs FWD (that's why the S2000 is not a $25K car). If Honda made a RWD or real AWD (not add-on AWD to a FWD platform) to start it will lose its ability to provide such great value - either the price will go up or the features will go down.

I forgot to mention the j-spec issue. The TL does not exist outside of NA - actually no Acura does. The only NA Accord based platform to make it out of NA is the 2dr coupe. Those are exported to a few markets although I have yet to see one of the new model Accords ever since it was redone for MY03. So you can't get anything for a TL from Japan. Now if by some coincidence something from the TSX fits the TL then maybe.
I don't think you'll see much sales increases for the G35 because of AWD. For the majority of folks, they'll just move up to the FX. The AWD hype is just that - the minor traction increase you get is not very meanigfull in most situations (and the increased weight, cost and maintencane certainly makes it value dubious). How many people do you know (even in the snow belt) that actually put on snow tires on a AWD car (or any car for that matter)? Without them, the traction is not much better than FWD with all season tires.
In most of Europe for example, you CAN'T buy all-season tires. You have summer tires and winter tires and most people change them with the season. Just like in the US, the people you see in the ditch during a snowfall are the ones who don't have snow tires or are careless drivers (regardless if it's FWD, RWD or AWD)
