What the TSX really needs is, a 7th gear.

FYI, 4th gear redline occurs @ 100. Having had mine since April '03 and using it in my daily commute (which includes a fair amount of 70mph tollway cruising), I think the gearing is perfect - I rarely use 6th gear as it is.

The A-Spec RSX has a fancy body kit, retuned suspension, different wheels, and a new exhaust so you might have minor performance gains but nothing major. There are rumors of a faster TSX but nothing confirmed and no idea of dates. Certainly nothing will change for 2005.

You rarely use 6th gear when on the highway? I bet the oil refineries really like you.

Likely second-year Acura changes:

Memory driver's seat
Better insulation/isolation to kill the most commonly reported rattles
new color

and hopefully they offer a white with ebony interior DAMMIT. How can they not offer that?! I was just looking around the dealer locator software at work for TSXs in the area and noticed that white/ebony isn't an option!

=)

because it is faster, but now how you think. It's not faster in a straight line. If you take a regulare rsx around the track it will have slower times then the a-spec because the better suspension will help it get around the track faster.

Drivers being equal of course.

I am very interested to see how the Nav/XM interface is going to look (if they include xm next year). That is what I'm waiting for. I think that XM controls would look so clean on the big ol' nav screen. Can anyone get pics of how the interface looks in a TL or New accord.

i've heard that the xm is not in the tsx currently because it is made in Japan...while the tl has it because it's made in the U.S.

Seems like an easy thing to add, but does anyone think it will still be a hurdle?

Also, what about IMA? And VCM? Why would the 2005 accord V6 get it and not the tsx? it's a little like putting leather in a jetta but not in an a4...With what's happening with gas prices, it sure would be nice to have those two systems...

IMA seems like the perfect addition for the tsx. With its smaller, more economical engine but athletic handling capabilities...more torque and horsepower to a car that could use - and really enjoy it...

That is what I thought at first too, but you need to look at it from a business perspective. Honda wants to spread the R&D costs across more cars so as to make the IMA option cheaper. Quite simply, Honda will sell more IMA cars with it being in an Accord. If only 10% of all Accords buyer get the IMA car then that is like 40,000 units -- which is more than if 100% of TSX opted for the IMA version.

I really hope you are correct on that first item. It would all but decide what my next car will be!

That's assuming that IMA is now profitable, and not just a company subsidized option to keep the tree-huggers happy. You also forget that there a couple hundred thousand Euro and JDM Accords made each year.

that's a good point about the R&D...

this may have been covered, but does anyone know exactly what advantages the IMA would add in terms of horsepower and torque? it seems like it would be a great "addition" to the k24, i'm just not sure of the total numbers it would create...

That's precisely what Honda is trying do -- make IMA profitable (or at least break even)!!

I'm not sure Euro/JDM Accord production numbers are that high, and I am sure they are less then the US Accord numbers. I know for a fact the US market accounts for over 50% of Honda's total unit sales.

This is from Honda's site:
"The Insight's 1.0-liter, VTEC® 3-cylinder gasoline engine, with assist from the electric motor and equipped with a 5-speed manual transmission, produces 73 hp at 5700 rpm and 79 foot-pounds of torque at 1500 rpm, with up to approximately one-third of this torque being supplied by the IMA™ electric motor."

I'e heard figures like 13 hp and 25ish lb-ft. of torque. The thing to remember is that there is no torque "curve" per se, cause electric motors develop 100% of their torque as soon as they start to spin.

This is definitely something that I'd like to see... it would be a GREAT option! iPod users unite!

rattles

Regarding rattles, I just purchased a TSX and have logged 4K miles in just a few weeks. It has a rattle coming from the dash from time to time.
To qualify my statement The last three cars I've owned have been a '02 A4 Audi, '02 TT Audi & a '01 Wolfsburg Jetta (all purchased new & all but the Jetta were more expensive) and all of them had a noise of some sort. I think cars of this sort are always gonna do something different than your grandpas Buick but, they also do all kinds of things your grandpas didn't. So, If you want to do the stuff these cars will do - live with it. I think the TSX is a wonderfull car and a monster bargin for the money.

A happy customer

13 hp and 25 lb/ft of torque? Is that per electric motor? If I can get two of those, one for each rear wheel, I will trade in my TSX for a new hybrid TSX!
