2004 TL Updates?

Justin, anybody, do we have any new 2004 TL data this week?

Since the excitement from the pictures seems to have subsided, I am experiencing some withdrawal.

Any new data? I would even accept a scan of the new RSX brochure stating 270HP as an update.

Tell me about it...

I must be the only one here with a desire for good details on the new feature set.

I am not worried about horsepower or displacement.... Just features... Ventilated seats, etc...

Is anyone in the know, awake and willing to share?

oh, i think we all care about stuff that's going to be on the TL, it's just that you seem a little, um, obsessed about certain features...namely ventilated seats.

I don't know guys...

To me, ventilated seats and power folding mirrors seems like RL territory. Let's not forget that the TL is supposed to be competing with 330i, G35, etc. Not 5-series, E-class. If it has these features, cool. But don't get your hopes up.

Sure, but I also figure the TL competes with the Maxima (power folding mirrors, heated steering wheel) and the Saab 9-5 (ventilated seats) and maybe the A4 (heated steering wheel and power folding mirrors)

New to post, but looking for a while, I am especially interested in the "HPT" Package. I don't have hard data, but a good hunch is that the HPT stands for High Performance Trim or Tune. My 2 cents is that it will include a sport suspension setting, Brembos, and possibly HLSD. Alas, I fear only the stock 17" wheels with summer rubber will be offered.

Deposit on 04 TL Abyss Blue/Ebony or Redondo Red/Ebony 6MT HPT?

we already know that HPT stood for High Performance Tires, but it won't be marketed as that. It only includes summer rubber, possibly 18" wheels...the M/T will already has a stiffer suspension and front brembos.

Have we been able to get a definite yes or no regarding 18" wheels?

Keeping my fingers crossed for 18"ers.

RJC - do we know this for fact that all M/T's will have brembos????? I thought it was not confirmed.

If this is fact, I wasted my money on the HPT package as I could have gotten the all-seasons for the winter, and a nice set of 18" tires/wheels with great summers (vs the Bridgestone RE's on the spy shots).

My sales rep told me that all 6MTs will come with Brembo brakes and 17 inch wheels. He got his info from the Acura Factory Rep.

Not 5-series?? Not E-class?? I think you're wrong; certainly a lot of people would disagree with you. But, we don't really know -- in a way this gets back to what I've been saying ad infinitum, that we don't really know some of the most basic aspects of the car.

But first of all, look at it this way: Doesn't the current TL compete with those cars in a way and to some extent?? You might say "not really," or "not very well," but I don't think there's any doubt that in a way it does. And if the new TL is going to be anywhere near as superior as most people assume -- plus if its size is going to be in the same range as those cars -- absolutely of course it's going to compete with them.

My only hesitation in saying these things is I know it's dicey to disagree with you!

Are we 100% certain on front only?

What is fact and what is rumor has been difficult to determine. I cannot help but think the Acura by having a different order code for whatever HPT is would have more features than just summer rubber. Honda has offered different and larger rims and tires as accessories, so why would Acura have a separate code? Legal reasons?

German cars usually combine better brakes, stiffer suspension and tires (wheels too) in their performance packages.

Deposit 04 TL Abyss Blue/ Eb or Redondo/Eb 6MT HPT?

I truly hope the HPT whatever that means) has the bigger brakes and tires, not to mention the sport suspension!
