04 TL vs. 04 G35 sedan
This is just my personal opinion, but I think the G35 sedan could beat the 04 TL even if the TL has 270 hp now. The G35 sedan has 260hp, but has 260lbs of torque and I know the TL has 245lbs of torque, plus the RWD G35 could is better than a FWD TL, am I right? Maybe Acura should bring back the CL-type S and rename it a 2 dr TL to compete with the G35 coupe.

The G35 sedan has the edge in performance numbers (e.g., 0-60, skidpad, braking, etc.), but it truly is only a slight one, when you take all of the reviews into account. Now, how it FEELS when performing... that's a personal preference. Btw - the G35 gets even worse mileage than the TL, and I've seen reports as low as ~15 or 16 mpg in the TL dependingon the driving conditions. Now add AWD in the G35x and you basically have an SUV in terms of gas mileage (though lots more fun to drive!).

G35 I admit has a slight power advantage and the handling I think is a tie, but taking into account the interior, features, quality, technology, and all the other cool stuff in 04 TL.
I say the 04 TL wins..
Anyways I dont like the looks of the G35 Sedan, the Coupe is a diff story!

BTW, the TL does just barely out-perform the G35. Here are the figures from the March 2004 issue of C/D:
TL G35
0-60 5.8 6.3
1/4 mile 14.5 14.6
Braking, 70-0 160 164
Roadholding 0.89 0.90
Lane Change 62.3 63.8
Impressive.

I'm completely serious. Make a list of the ugliest cars on the market and then get a close up of those cars along with the G35 sedan. There is something EVIL about that exterior. It seems to have every piece of Nissan TACKINESS ever devised all in one package. The weirdest thing about it is that it ALMOST looks good. You guys know what I'm talking about?

Let me put it another way.
When you buy the TSX, you don't spend a second second guessing its looks. You spend all your energy admiring it.
When you buy the G35 coupe, you spend most of your time admiring it, but occasionally something causes you to do a double-take, such as the grille or the rear bumper from the 3/4 rear view.
When you buy the TL, you sometimes find yourself analyzing, wondering about a few things, such as the 3/4 rear view or the back view and the taillights.
When you buy the G35 sedan, you always find yourself analyzing this and that, trying to convince yourself that it looks just fine, and wondering if you should have bought the G35 coupe.

Obviously looks are subjective. There must be a lot of folks who like the looks of the G based on its sales. For enthusiast nothing short of a RWD platform will do, in which case they won't even look at the TL. Once one decides that the platform layout does not matter, I think the TL gets the edge.

You should intern for Car and Driver, they need more people like you. How often are you personally going to see the benefits of RWD? How about never. You are much more likely to see the benefits of more features, a lower car payment, faster 0-60 times, better braking, winter traction, and much better looks both inside and out.

I'd have to say that the TL definitely wins over the G35 sedan in looks. The G35 coupe is a nice car, but if Acura were to develop a new CL similar to the photochop that someone did over on A-CL, then that may be in contention.
As for gilbo, I yet again ask if he has actually driven the TL?
I recently test drove the TL and G35 sedan back to back and I must admit, the TL feels a lot more planted. The G35 tends to feel less solid and refined in day to day driving chores. Personally, I'd love for the chance to drive these cars back to back out at Willow Springs or Buttonwillow.
