Question XM Commander install?

Has anyone installed the XM Commander into a non-navi 2nd Gen TL-P? I'm considering doing so, but I'm especially interested in hearing if anyone has done it with a Blitzsafe adaptor. The specs on the Commander say that the tuner has RCA line outputs (so I can avoid using an FM modulator), but if I'm not mistaken, the stock radio doesn't have RCA inputs. From what I've seen, it looks like the Blitzsafe HON/AUX DMX V.1 adaptor would work, but I don't want to buy the wrong part.

I am interested in this info too as I want to install the same device in my ride. However, I have the navi system. Also, I once saw a link to a site that had pictures of how to remove the TL radio. Does anyone know that link? I would appreciate that as I will be installing a bluetooth wireless kit also.

Yup, I've installed the Commander in my 99TL non-navi. One of the best things I've ever done. If you have questions, ask away...

The XM Commander is a satellite radio add-on system, specifically using the XM satellite radio service. Commercial free music, weather, talk, traffic, etc that can be received all throughout N. America. It's not free like conventional radio though. There is a monthly fee. For more info:

How did you install it - FM mod or use a Blitzsafe? Antenna outside or inside? I'm also considering a Roady, but I'm concerned about how small the buttons are. I'm thinking of putting it in my sunglass holder and maybe keeping the antenna inside, but I'd appreciate hearing how other people have done it and their experience after the install.
Thanks!

Blitzsafe. Antenna is outside on the center front edge of the trunk (nearest to window).

This is the same set up that i am deciding on doing to a 2000 w/navi Tl. is the adapter the same for a non-navi Tl?
Where did you mount the head unit?
Hope all goes well.

Commander is great! I love how compact it is. Service is awesome, except in tunnels or under big bridges...

Great - I appreciate all your feedback and advice! The salesman at one shop I went to was trying to sell me this crossover/processor that he said helps with the compression of the XM signal and makes the overall quality of XM and AM/FM/CD sound better, too. What is your impression of the XM sound quality vs FM and CD?

Sorry - forgot to mention that I don't have a CD changer attached, so my aux input is open. Logjam has another product if you have the CD changer and want to keep it attached, too.

I'm not sure what he means by a "crossover/processor", but the quality is umpteen times better than FM and very close to CD, esp if you play it through the AUX port with a Blitzsafe or whatever. The tape adapter is next worst, sounding a bit flat. And the FM modulator is the worst connection being getting much closer to radio quality in my opinion.

This is what he suggested I add on at some point: http://www.audiocontrol.com/MobileAu...nDash/HPX.html He said it would make the overall quality of my system better, regardless of what components I add on. Didn't know if the XM signal quality really needed it to justify an additional $300 expense.

Rhunter69 -

You said this above:

"Logjam has another product if you have the CD changer and want to keep it
attached, too"

What product is that? I asked them and they said if I have the indash 6 disc stock changer I could not hook up RCA Jacks.

Any help would be great.

Thanks

Sorry - my comment only applies to TL's prior to the in-dash CD changer. I believe 99-01 TL's have the external changer that mounts in the trunk and attached to the CD jack on the head unit. Blitzsafe has an adaptor that lets you connect an aftermarket CD changer and also add RCA jacks. Did you check Blitzsafe's website? It has the complete list of their adaptors and I thought I saw a product that works for the in-dash changer head units.

Rhunter -

I checked their site and they don't have one. I wonder what other people who have the changer are using to hook up their MP3 players etc...

FM Modulator??

Thanks
