Wiring instead of cig. plug

I am trying to hook up a new aftermarket navigation for my wife in her Land Rover. It is not a din unit, it is one of those ones you see from Hertz (similar) that sticks on the dash. I want to hard wire the power cord into the car to have it turn on and off with the vehicle. My question is how do I go about cutting the cord of the cig. adaptor and wiring it into the fuse box? I have seen those add-a-fuse things but I don't know what I am supposed to use. I also dont know what kind of wiring I am going to find inside of the cig. power cord... is it just a simple 2 wire setup?

A shop told me they would do it for $45 but to me if it is just some simple wiring, I can't justify $45 for a couple of wire snips and some elec. tape...

Any help? Thanks in advance for any advice or ideas....

Yeah, it's a very simple process. Cut the wires with the cigarette adapter at the end. Hopefully one of the wires has a white stripe on it identifying it as the positive.

Then get an add-a-circuit from Pep Boys. Try to find a free fuse in the fusebox and put it in there. Attach the positive wire from the navi system to the add-a-circuit red wire. Then find a good ground and attach the ground wire from the navi system to that. Put in a properly sized fuse into the add-a-circuit and you're done. To know what size fuse, open up the cigarette adapter from the original navi wire. There will be a fuse hiding in there. You the same rating on the add-a-circuit.

That's it!
