Wireharness kit Question?

I have a 2000 tl with the bose ... I am putting in my aftermarket pioneer , do I just use the standard harness (accord harness, I THINK ) ? someone told me I have to get a special harness along with the regular harness. because of the bose ... IM CONFUSED ... I am hearing 2 different stories... Do i have to replace the factory speakers? I know I will lose the factory sub... no big deal .. sounds bad anyways.... some one that has experience with this please help... or has done it in there car,...

The harness you referred to works fine. You do not have to change the speakers but, you will want to. I originally changed the head unit to an Alpine 7893 without changing the speakers and it sounded decent. It will not hurt anything to do that. You will be able to judge for your self if you need to change the speakers.

Alot depends if you want them just to drop in or if you want to modify. Almost any 5 1/4 will fit without modifying the door. Almost all 6 1/2 will require a spacer and cutting of the door. I have Diamond M661's in my front door and had to trim the door very slightly at the bottom.

Try to look for 5 1/4 with no more than 3 inch depth. I believe you would lose the sub but no sure about that.

Here's the skinny on changing the radio and the speakers: AcuraX2 has it all right. You will need the 98+ honda accord harness, you will lose the sub (which really isn't that big of a difference) and you don't have to change the speakers even though you will want to to get better sound reproduction. 5.25 will pretty much just drop in but you might as well go ahead and get 3/4 to 1" spacers and use 6.5"s ( the factory speakers use a 3/4" spacer) the mounting depth available is approximately 3" and the diameter of the factory cut hole is approximately 4" so you can use those sizes when considering speakers should you feel the need to change them.

the only way i can think of that you could do it would be to use an afermarket amp running off the head unit and the wire the amp to the stock sub.
