Does anyone know if these Alpine 6-1/2" Type-R Coaxial 2-Way Speakers will fit on our TL's??? What has to be done?

I am not sure about the Coaxial. I had the Type R components and there was no way without cutting the metal in the doors. Also, mounting depth may be a problem as well. If you can get the cuttout diameter and mounting depth, we can better help you.

Honestly, not alot of 6 1/2 will fit without cutting the door or making a spacer. Problem is mounting depth and cutout diameter. These are the two critical factors for the TL doors. Almost any 5 1/4 will fit without cutting but, may need a spacer.

 

I posted about this laast summer. I have Polk MOMO 6.5s in the doors. The magnets are huge and deep, but contrary to what most people have said about making a spacer up to 1" deep, I used a spacer thats 1.4" inches. The only catch when you use a spacer this big is you will need to replace one of the door panel clips (the one thats located just above the speaker) with something thats longer and has more grab, or the door panel wont fit back on tight. I found that the GM type clips work perfectly. They are long and have ridges that stick out all the way down the clip. They kind of look like a long christmas tree. You can get them at the parts counter for probably 20 cents or so.
