Will subs disable use of spare
It depends on where you put it.. If you mount the subwoofer in a sealed box in the corner of the trunk you should be able to get to the spare fine without having to take the box out. Or if you have it mounted right behind the seat facing either way as long as its running with the seat you should have no problem lifting up the spare access cover.

Find a good installer, and you should retain access to the spare. This convenience would also depend on what size sub and how many drivers you want in the trunk. So, several factors come into play to retain the spare access.

Even if you just get a standard sealed box, just get one with terminals or some quick disconnect connectors. That way if you ever run into a situation where you need the spare, then just disconnect the sub.
That's what I had to do the other day. When I needed to load a bunch of stuff in the trunk. Took just a few seconds to disconnect the sub and I ended up just putting the box in the back seat. I didn't have bass again until I unloaded. But it wasn't a big deal since I was watching the tv tuner.

Yeah...I guess if you have 2 12's it would suck...I only have 1 12 and a box w/ 1.25 air space...so it's not so hard for me at all. I move it all the time when I gotta shove crap in the trunk.
His question was just about 1 12 and I just wanted to let him know it can be done...without him having to get some of the expensive custom installs that are shown in a lot of the pics.
Itz all good though...Jigga.
