Will Copied PS1 games play on PS2??

Will Copied PS1 games play on PS2??
Looking into getting ps2 for my car but mainly for the DVD capabilities. I figure if I want a dvd player might as well get a game console with it..right? or does anyone know any big reasons not to do this? So I still love games on ps1, but they are all burned. Can these be played on ps2 without a mod chip? Thanks for any help.

Where do you plan to put the PS2? What are u going to do for a display, etc?

I put my PS2 under the drivers seat and my brain unit for the CVA under the passenger seat with a power inverter installed where the real ash tray was it all seems to work toghether great and does not affect rear seating room
