Remember that your sub, isn't a sub. It's just a woofer. The sats can't get below bout 1Khz, so the "sub" has a super-high crossover.

Otherwise, my Aunt has one...and it sounds good. Not worth the money she paid, but it still sounds good.

I think Bose systems can sound good, but you can get a lot better for the same price. I've actually owned bose speakers and I can't say I was impressed. I got rid of them pretty quick (yes I allowed for break in).

I've been even less impressed w/bose in car stuff. Paper cones just don't cut it. My friend's Yukon (or whatever Big-A$$ SUV) had a bose system in it and it had 'fake' tweeters, meaning the grill implied there was a tweeter & mid-bass or bass driver, when in reality there was just a single driver (and yes it was made of paper too).

I wonder why you can't buy Bose car speakers aftermarket?

The system in the TSX is better than the Bose system in my old Audi A4. I suspect better speakers would help it a bit, but it's sufficient for the reality of my use.

One thing to remember is that Bose auto systems are generall not manufactured by Bose. In fact, I can't think of any case in which Bose actually manufactures them. Bose "designs" the system or consults on the design. The idea is they bring expertise in how to configure the specific system (mostly the speakers) to work best in the vehicle.

But more often than not, the configuation -- placement and speaker types -- is as far as they go. The manufacturer then uses whatever subcontractors they normally use to put the stuff together. In the Audi, the headunit was virtually identical to the non-Bose one, and the speakers were typical Audi/VW powered units only a bit differently configured than the standard speakers.

Also got to remember that any stock system is a compromise. The optimal configuration for you will depend on what kind of music you expect to listen to.

Because Bose doesn't make them, as I explained above. Bose just designs the systems for the car manufacturers.

damn good for a stock stereo system to put out over 300 watts to the speakers. don't complain because you would have to do the same to any other car you got anyway. most other cars come with a sh*tty ass system that you would have to replace anyways. a couple of good 6 by 9's and a couple of subs, a good amp, then you're set. :blaze: :blaze: :blaze: :blaze: :blaze: :blaze: :blaze: :blaze: :blaze: :blaze:

I've owned both (RSX-S and TSX) and stock for stock, the TSX system is FAR better. It's louder, has better bass, and clearer highs. That said, I added a 10" JL Audio sub to my RSX and it was 10x better after that (or at least good enough for me). I don't like rattling bass, just decent bass output, which the so called sub in the RSX-S didn't provide. Mind you though, neither of them can touch the 400W stereo that came in my Touareg, but I didn't expect them too. The TL stereo is very impressive, definitely a step in the right direction.

Panasonic makes the stereo in the TL. Bose makes it for most of the MDX line and for the RSX-S. I believe Panasonic will be making the stereo for the RL but might be wrong about that. The TSX stereo is not a Bose unit. Not sure who makes it.

Bose actually doesn't make any head units. Most likely even in the "Bose systems" the head unit is probably MEI (Panasonic).

Bose = marketing

This thread really belongs in Audio & Video, so it's moving there.

Don't know why I didn't figure this earlier.

The it sound is great. That's all I got to say. The bass when turned up is loud enough for people to notice and enough for me to feel it.

Bose for home theatre is usually awful with their Acoustimass series. Very "tinkly" and overly bright. Not to mention the fact that you can't get midrange from their satellites at all, and the packaged sub cannot reach any lower than 35Hz or so.

For the money there are much better alternatives.

Did I mention they use paper cones in their consumer grade products?
