I've got one 12" '07 Type R in a 1.2 cubit ft. sealed enclosure. It fires to the rear of my trunk, and I've removed the stock, rear deck, speakers to allow the bass to flow better to the cabin....My amp rack is on the reverse side of the sub enclosure, and pretty much seals the cabin from the trunk. I'm driving it with an Alpine PDX 600.1.

I like the way it sounds, and the SQ is pretty good. It will get low, but I've heard other woofers get lower. For the price range, I don't know if it can be beat. It wouldn't be fair to compare it to a JLW6, and that's the only JL woofer I've listened to. I would think it would be just as good as a lower model JL....but I can't say for sure.

Overall, it's a good woofer for the money. It's taken everything I can throw at it, and never complained. Distortion isn't an issue, and it doesn't seem to mind the extra wattage from the 600.1. I would like to hear one in a ported enclosure, just to see what the difference is.

It's a great bang for the buck-budget-entry level sub. I'd say its more spl orientated than SQ
