Where to put my amp
Hey guys, I just bought a '98 Acura 2.2 CL and am planning on re-doing the entire stereo. I had a few questions though...
1. I haven't researched it yet, or tried, but what's the easiest way to remove the stock stereo?
2. Where do most of you place your amps? I have seen in a few pictures people bolting them to the roof of the trunk, but my amp appears to wide to attach there, never mind those obnoxious cross bars that run beneath the speakers. Anyway... please give me a few idea's on where a 600w amp would fit best.
3. Last thing, does the back seat fold forward?

well, if you had two amps id say on either side of the trunk, make a rack and place the amps across from eachother. One guy did a really cool door, so the amp rack hinged to get to the jack if he ever needed it...dont know where that pic went, but it was a great idea!

1. With a small, flathead screwdriver, gently pry off the trim ring that goes around the stereo, clock, and storage compartment (under the radio). Disconnect the clock plug and the hazard plug. Once the trim ring is off, shine a flashlight under the storage tray. There should be 2 screws that hold the mounting plate to the dashboard frame. Once you take the screws out, the radio, storage compartment, and mounting bracket should come out. Unplug the factory radio harness and antenna, and Viola! You're done!

2. My amp is mounted to the seat back, in the trunk.
3. NO!

when you are prying off the wood trim....don't forget there is the screw behind the ash tray and 2 screws under the center console on the end closest to the rear. to get to these you have to take the screws out from under the cup holder, from under the cd organizer in the center compartment (both of these just pop out) and the 2 screws on the side of the console by the seatbelt latches. once out slide the rear part of the console back so the 2 halves separate and you will see the screws i mentioned
the one behind the ashtray is easy.

i spent a good hour drilling guide holes in the metal cross-members on the back of the seat. i did screw it to the back of the seat, but it was a pain. it's the best place tho.
