Where did you get through firewall?

Where did you get through firewall?
I couldn't find a definitive answere via searching, so I thought I'd ask.
I need to get a 4 guage cable through the firewall for my amps.
I could only see two possibilities:
1. A black plastic looking "plug" on the driver side fairly high up on the firewall over the accelerator. It looks like it would be perfect for 4 guage wire. It would need to be pried out.
2. A rubber grommet on the driver side that has a small bundle of wires going through it at the top right. It looks like a little slice in it would allow the wire to pass through.
However, since I don't know what's behind either, I'd rather hear from someone who has already done it. Will both work? Which is easier to access from the inside of the car?
I had hoped to find a place lower on the firewall that would allow easy access from inside the car but both of these locations are up high enough so that you can't see where they go on the inside of the car.
BTW, I have a 2003 TL-S.
Thanks.

option one is the one i used... it should come out to the right of the steering column under the dash... if you look under the dash you will see a little circle plug of rubber... that is where it will come thru at...

bozz...I just ran 4 awg. wire yesterday. It was a pain trying to find a spot to come thru. I decided on a large rubber grommet where a factory bundle of wires runs thru. It is located just above and behind the brake. You can find it under the hood, just below the wires running to the driver's side wiper motor. I took a small, strong wire and poked it thru the grommet on the right side of the wire bundle, running it thru from the hood side. It takes a little patience but, it will work. Once I got it thru, I taped my 4 awg to it, applied some vasoline to the tape and pulled it back thru and under the hood. Took me about an hour to find the spot and about 5 minutes to pull it thru. I then just ran the wire all down the driver's side and under the rear seat into the trunk. Hope this helps.

Bozzchem, although you can run a 4awg wire through the grommet acurax2 is talking about, I don't recommend it. It's a pain in the butt to get to and through this grommet. Search a little harder and you'll find pics and info about the "other grommet." It's the one that shawite is talking about. After I found that grommet I literally ran the wire through without lubing the wire and such in a matter of 1-2 minutes. If you look from the inside, there's a circular pushed out insulating/rubber section of the firewall about 1 inch in diameter. It's located just above and to the right of the top of the gas pedal. You can't miss it. On the engine side, the grommet is located in the middle (left to right) of the firewall about 1 foot below the strut bars. The grommet is black and uncut. Nothing runs through it. All you have to do is to take a carpet knife or something sharp and cut a "cross" pattern through it. Then take your 4awg wire and poke it through. Walla, that's it. Don't worry about cutting the rubber. When you run the thick 4 awg wire through, it will be nice and tightly sealed. Now, inside the car I ran the wire up and around the brake pedals and into the sidesills.
I hope this helps.

the pics of the grommet that shawhite and dr bear are talkin about can be found in this thread:

the links to the pics are about halfway down the first page. i also ran a 4-gauge wire for my sub amp thru there.

OMG was that easy. I had to drill a hole in the firewall of my Cougar. This opening was MADE for 4g wire.
Maybe one of the Acura engineers felt so bad about sticking us with the Bose system, they left us a perfect spot for wiring a REAL audio system!
