im kidna stumped on this i searched google but couldn't find anything, thought it would be easier to ask. from what ive read, FM Transmitter seems to be something that transmits a signal and FM modulator something with satellite radio.....can someone fill me in please

 

Any FM transmitter has to modulate the signal before broadcasting it.

FM modulators take audio, change it into FM, and instead of broadcasting it, they inject it onto the coax wire directly (the antenna plugs into the FMM instead of the radio, and the FMM then plugs into the radio in the antenna jack). FM modulators generate a little FM broadcast, but usually not too much (unless you put an antenna in the output jack, then they broadcast).

FM transmitters broadcast on purpose. They require no direct connection to the antenna wire. They also lose every time they have to compete with FM towers on their frequency.

BTW, the best FM transmitters, like the Icon and the Meyer and Davis, work most of the time ONLY becasue they are so FCC-illegal they are like one of Janet's boobs. But with the current administration, there's no enforecement, so if the three cars next to you on the freeway can hear your video system on their FM radio as they drive near you, the government doesn't care.

 

what is the pricing difference in FM Transmitter and Modulator? i have the APPLE iCarPlay it was like 70 and it works pretty well, can have static interference at times but for the most part it does the job, would it be more worth it to get a modulator? i bought the Navi Conversion so i need sound from the ps2 slim that im gonna get so would it be worth it to just have them put in a modulator?

 

FMM's suck ass. FMT's suck ass. You just said so. I will NEVER recommend an FM interface for anybody, because there's no right way to do something stu...that's a bad idea. Why not an Shond3?
