What wrong???

Sometimes my sub just stops hitting and the bass gets very weak. This has happened a couple times. My bass controller would be turned up all the way but it barely hits. I just turn it off for a while and then its back to normal. Any ideas on what could be causing this?

I have an Infinity 1300a, I think the ground is fine becuase the amp is on, but the sub just stops hitting or hits very weak.

Are you sure it's not overheating?

Is it a Dual voice coil? If so, one of your voice coil is either burnt or the leads that connects to the voice coil has came loose.

Happened to me once with my RF power punch Dual 4ohm.

Now that I think about it. That might be the problem. Does the bass get weak when overheating occurs?

nayaab, you're most likely overheating the amp. And yes, what you're experiencing happens when you overheat an amp. There are a couple of ways to fix this. 1) Make sure the amp has enough room around it. 2) Put a fan on the amp, so it has air constantly moving around it. Another option is to put some kind of spacer underneath the amp's mounting feet so that the bottom of the amp isn't resting on anything.

to add to those suggestions, you may want to reconfig your amp frequency settings (settings too high for outage may set the amp to go in protect mode), of course you wont have much bump
