What type of box is best for our cars

I have 2 12s in 2 bandpass boxes. The bass is deep, but somewhat distorted. SHould i go for 1 bandpass box with a dual sub setup, or should i go for a ported/sealed enclosure for tighter but not as deep bass.

Mmmm the best will depend on what you want. A good fourth order bandpass will accurately reproduce a band of bass, depending on what it's tuned response is (your box is tuned properly yes? That may be your problem otherwise), while a ported box, though not able to produce the umph in the bandpass's band, will accurately reproduce band frequencies, also assuming it is properly tuned. For any car, aka not an open back SUV, a ported or bandpass box is best so that you can port through the rear deck or rear wall into the cabin to avoid vibrations, as well as reflected waves.

As for 1 vs. 2 boxes...it really doesn't matter from the speaker's point of view. They don't care if they're sharing a box or not, as long as they see the correct volume and port size and length and placement, for the most part. Usually though I prefer to place all of my subs in a shared and reinforced box...they tend to balance better that way...
