What if any, is the advantage of XO's close to the comp speakers?

Gurus and Bretheren: Long weekend ahead... Thought it would be a good time to install my morel XOs. They are on the big side, so, I thought the trunk might be a good place to start. Or, should they be closer to the speaks? O does it even matter? Your expertise is welcome.

My thought is that it doesn't matter much if any. But, I'd hate running all that extra wire, myself.

I believe it doesn't matter. I have mine in the trunk. Definitely don't put them in the door.

Resistance.

The components in a passive xover are determined by the impedance of the speaker.

Impedance is like resistance, but the impedance value of a speaker is different at different frequencies. Resistance is constant.

So you actually change the value of the passive crossover slightly with a lot of small, higher-resistance wire.

You can safely put crossovers behind a door panel, as long as it's not INSIDE the door cavity. Just make sure they are inside the water barrier and they can't rattle.

I've installed 16guage for the speaks, brahma12dvc, 3sixty.1. I'm running just the morel ov's 6 up front and the 3sixty to a RF t5002. I took the signals (for the 3sixty) from the rear doors (full range) and from the rear deck for the sub. A p8002 bridged to 800rms at 4 ohm will drive the Adire. I decided to run the XOs to the trunk (save my arthritic back! )-and concentrate on building clean mounting/enclosures for all.

'Curiosity' is as good a description of why I chose the 3sixty. I love to tinker with stuff. I love gadgets, too. Bluetooth I've had in my Macs since, what, 5-6 years(?) - or more.
I got everything (sans Brahma) up-and-running last nite--and whoa! Those Morels are impressive! A little vintage Supertramp goes a long way!

Remember that Morel tweeters change dramatically during break in

For your car, all the 360.1 gets you is a five-band EQ and an aux in (which you can get with an SHOND3).

Of course, it IS a 5-band EQ...
