What the hell is this and how do I hook it up to my sub?
Backstory:
04 Acura TL, just bought it.
Wired for sound, guessing there is an LOC somewhere?
In the picture, you will see a ground, power, remote, another flat (not round) black wire and these four wires I'm baffled by. They're color coded. I believe two are gray, one white, one white with a black stripe. The person who had them before had all the mini wires wrapped up into one. +, -?
Stock sub and HU are intact and working.
I just want to wire an aftermarket amp (know how to do that) and an aftermarket sub (don't know how to do that).

if it is wired for sound then it should have a LOC. go in your trunk and take off the clips holding the panel on the top..pull it down all the way and you should be able to see your factory sub..dig around with your hand and see if the LOC is there. if it is..you are good to go. but it seems you do not have RCA wires so connect them to the LOC and run them down to connect to the amp.
thinking the other wires might be cheap speaker wire? or maybe the previous owner had the stock speakers wired to an amp? can't really tell from the pic. also, might have had an epicenter and those are the wires from it.
either way to wire the sub and amp..just get an an amp, hook up the ground, remote, and power wires to it then run speaker wire from the amp to the sub. then pop your hood and there should be a power wire running from your battery, then look for a fuse holder and see if there is a fuse in it if not insert one 50a-100a grade depending how big your system will be.
if wiring is there..all plug and play..if you're in SoCal i can help ya out

I traced down the four alien wires and found that they seem to be spliced into some speaker cable. Does that make sense?
My conclusion: this thing was hooked up to some sort of adapter, but then the adapter was taken out and the wiring was left. But why would this thing be spliced into speaker cable and where would the speaker cable be coming from? Very confusing.
The power/ground is very thin, yea. I'm thinking 8 gauge even? At any rate, I'm going to run a massive p1000, but only at 4 ohms which should be good for 250 rms (plenty of my jl0 10"). it's just a temp setup. eventually, i'm going to get a smaller amp and throw a 8" earthquake sub into the stock location.
oh and i think everything is plug and play up front. did check for a fuse, but i'm sure they didn't pull it. i'm scared to take the cover off the stock sub...don't want to see the situation lol.
