Question What is better TSX w/ Navi or without

I am about to buy a tsx 06
I would like to have a navigation system but i care more about having my xbox hooked up

but anyways since the navigation that acura has in the TSX is very limited is it just better to get ur own seperate navigation system that plays dvds and is GAMER compatible

I have an 01 CL-S with navigation and it works well. I have spent a lot of time on www.mp3car.com looking at the carputers. They can use other GPS packages, run Windows, Linux, MAC, etc. and hook up your game console. Spend some time there and see if a carputer may meet your needs. It will more than likely be much cheaper and you can upgrade/transfer it to another car. Oh, and you do not need a code if your battery goes dead.

with but i'm biased

If you get the factory nav the voice activation controls stereo, ac, nav. Pretty cool! And you can use the screen to play dvds.

Your navigation system doesn't play dvds, but you can convert your "screen" to play dvds if you buy the converter and then purchase a dvd player. You can't do jack to the navigation box in the trunk except replace it with another acura/honda navigation box!

My nav has gotten me out of so many messes... Its ridiculous. Plus, nav gives you the ability to go roadhunting when you have free time, without fear of not knowing how to get back. And with Dom's hookup, you can keep the clean OEM look of the nav'd dash AND get your xbox cookies too. I say get it WITH

Black Market Forums- Doms nav-vid converter. Last I heard it was down to $125. Splice in to 4 wires at the right kick panel and your golden.

You can do anything to it that has a composite video. You can hook up ps2, xbox, game cube, portable dvd, etc. With the stock navi, you have a clean look like stock. No one will even know that you can watch dvd's on it. I have one in my car and it is incredible. When my son is crying, I just put on Elmo and he is as happy as he can be. Easy hook up too. I did a write on hooking it up in the kick panel. You wont be disappointed with the unit.

Talking Navi vs. carputer

Well, I just took my '01 TL with a custom carputer in for service and they gave me a TSX with Navi and XM for a loaner. I've done the custom PC route in my TL with GPS navigation, MP3, DVD, games, etc., etc., etc. Yes it's cool to say I did it myself, but IMO, I can't compete with the factory. Co-workers commented when they saw the TSX "That's what a navigation system should look like" when compared to mine. There is lots of good software at mp3car.com (most of it free) and it's true you can do it cheaper (my whole system was maybe $650). The factory system has more waypoints than my software (iGuidance), the screen is easier to read (less glare) and is definitely designed for an automobile environment (bigge text, buttons, etc.). After about a year of tweaking, my custom system is getting there, but it would be very tough to compete with the completeness and "factory feel" of their system. I used to laugh at people who bought Navi from the factory. Scoffed, actually, as I had a custom system. Then I tried the factory system.... If you're adventourous and good with computers and custom software/hardware, by all means go for it!! But the factory version is pretty damn good.

I can provide pictures of my setup if you'd like. Or check out mp3car.com for some great examples.
