weird noise

weird noise

hello everybody, alrite, i got my soundgate hook up to my laptop and my laptop is power from a dc-ac invertor. would i need to get a GLI? i'm hearing some werid noise at the background, its a high pitch sound that echo my throttle. and some background sound too, would the GLI fix the problem???? becuase i know it would eliminate some background sound but the high pitch echo-ing my throttle is just so weird! anyone have any suggestion??

Yes I had a ton of engine noise in my old car with my laptop hooked up to the stereo. I would definitely recommend a GLI.

It's also probable that your cig adapter for your laptop has insufficient filtering... not uncommon. Try running your laptop off of battery power and see if the noise goes away. The alternator noise is probably coming in through the laptop. I have seen this before...

If the noise goes away on battery power, go to a stereo shop and have them hard-wire your cig adapter into the car wiring while adding an in-line power filter. If they don't know what an in-line power filter is go elsewhere : )

That was the problem I was having eldurino. It would work fine on battery but the inverter was kicking out a lot of noise.

Yeah, inverters are wayyy noisy... better to get a Cig adapter and if needed put an in-line filter on it... (or I guess the installer could filter the cig lighter instead - never thought of that

thx guys, i jus got the GLI and works like a charm! i didn't try to run it striaght from the battery because i dont want to eat up the battery if i forget to turn off my laptop. i will post some pictures when i'm done with in.
