Question waste of space above radio (non-s)

i've got an '02 tl (non-s) and i was thinking about doing something with that stupid waste of space slot above the radio. i would like to put in an lcd screen. has anyone done this? or does anyone know if any companies make a screen that will fit in there?
also, for those on this board in toronto, do any of you know where i can get screens installed in the headrests without getting raped on the price?

there has been several people put lcd's in that slot.. but it is not an easy task.. the lcd will have to be modified to fit in that opening since no one makes a 1/2 din lcd... or you could put lcd's in your headrest and visors and put a dvd player in that openings.. as for the headrest you can contact ron over @ www.streeteffectz.com and i bet he would be glad to do them for you..

Last time I was quoted $2000 for that to be done. A motorized 1/2 din LCD.

There are a few 1/2 din motorized LCD's being put out on the market. Not sure of the quality or the specs or the availability of them.

Has anyone come up with a clever use of that space? It is such a waste.

Pyle (which is pretty much crap IMO) has a 7" motorized lcd screen that's half din. I don't think it's worth $1200. It should be easy to put in a half din screen. Measuring the space, it's about 1" so it should be able to fit.

I've got a crude and I mean crude screen that I put in there. (basically a headrest screen that I flip up) It seems to be easier to rip out everything and replace it with a new head unit and screen. I wouldn't mind doing that, but I don't want to spend the money on the head unit, screen and having to replace the speakers. Would have been nice if I had navi.

Would be cool to put a spectrum analyzer in the space to move with the music.

it all comes down to how much you want to spend and how creative you are.. but i have seen people put flip out tv's there, eq's, dvd players, mp3 players etc... in that location..
