Angry VTEC Light

I was reading the FAQ about the Vtec light and thought, "What the heck." So I wired everything with exactly the same part numbers and all was going well, right up to the point I got to the ECU. There I find that it is bolted with 10mm bolts. Two are easy to remove, the third is all but impossible. Then there are two little bitty screws on the top and bottom of the ECU. This was really not an issue seeing that I was still able to pull the lower and middle plugs. Mine are orange, not grey. Upon looking at the wires on the middle plug I found the green wire with a yellow stripe, but there are two of them, not one. I tapped into one of the two hoping it would work. Now when I turn my car on, the LED light comes on for about 1 second and then turns off. It is not coming on again at all. I am hoping I just tapped into the wrong wire of the two, but before I go pulling everything apart again I want to make sure I'm even going in the general direction. I tried to E-mail the original writer of the FAQ sheet, but I am being told the administrator disabled the function. Hoping someone out there can help. Thanks!

The guy who originaly wrote the direction wrote them for a Prelude, not a Type S. Anyway, he said that he will probably know which wire for our cars in two weeks. If I have time today or tomorrow I will grab a tech and get a test light and try to figure it out. Otherwise, we'll be waiting for two weeks. No big deal.

Oh yeah, I did try the other green wire, nothing at all happens with that one.

Wrote it for a prelude but posted as instruction for TL? Isn't that pathetic? I'm glad I haven't tried it out yet.

Eek! Don't say that!

You *KNOW* someone is going to have their friend sit in the front seat, they'll floor it to engage VTEC and then say "Duuuude, like hookup the multimeter and see if the wire is electrified man!"

And of course when he yanks the ECU wire out...

Accident waiting to happen

Nothing suprises me. As EVERYBODY here knows, Acura is just the luxury division of Honda, and a lot of parts are identical between certain models of Honda and certain models of Acura. Same also applies to wire harnesses. Why build and inventory two different harnesses when you can do the job with one???

If the schematic is for a Prelude, then say it's for a Prelude but it MIGHT work for TL or whatever. As far as I'm concern, you're just another little chink d*ck talking out of your a** :thefinger:

VTEC only works when the car is moving. Go inside your engine bay, find your VTEC silonoid, get the green wire. Tap into the green wire with another wire and run that inside your car. Hook that wire up to your led and then hook the other wire to the led to a ground. Start it up and then go driving. I did it and it still works fine, btw I have a 99 Accord.
