Volume control knob stopped working

I took my car in for repairs, which didn't get done, long story. and when I got it home i started my amp install. Well, now my volume knob doesn't work, but the one on my steering wheel does. do you think it's something i did? I didn't touch the headunit, i only tapped into wires leading into the factory amp. Also where did you guys ground your amp? I am getting a lot of noise and i think it is coming from a bad ground. thanks

Dude, that's whacked. Makes no sense that your volume control on the HU wouldn't work if you didn't touch it. Just to be 100% sure, unhook your aftermarket amp (just unplug RCAs).. if that doesn't work, take it to your dealer to get fixed.

I grounded my equipment underneath the trunk carpet under one of the plastic "knobs" the carpet pulls over (there are like four of them that align the carpet over the spare tire mount). I took one off, sanded down to bare metal with a dremmel tool, smoothed it down, and screwed the knob over the ground connection. Don't know if that's a good ground or not, but seems to work. Check out SilverKnight's page cause he probably did it the right way
