voice navigation
The factory amp and speakers is just not loud enough for me and i have been thinking of replacing them. I have talked to some people and even the dealer whom have told me that if i change my amp, i will lose the voice of the navigation, if that is the case i don't want to do that. Does anyone have any input on this?
I didn't lose voice all together I just lost the ability to mute, but there are a few people who have worked around that.
Anyone wanna share?

If you replace the factory amp and speakers you can still have the the navigation voice working just like before.
If you replace the head unit then the voice gets lost. The solution to that is to install a little self anmplifiedAlpine speaker

I was able to get voice from navi on Panasonic CQ-DVR909U stereo for Honda mini-van. A TL should be the same - although I haven't confirmed this.. I need a TL 1st!
You need to feed the audio signal (pins 2&3 on radio connector) to Aux-in L and R on your stereo or to your front L and R preamp outputs (before amp). The preamp method is prefered if you have mute circuit on your new stereo, otherwise you will need to switch to AUX for navi audio. For wiring to preamp the signal is pretty 'hot' so you should consider a 10K to 15K resistor in-line. To make the mute work test Pin 4 and if it's like the Honda you will get +12 when navi speaks. This can be a problem because todays stereo cell phone mute circuits expect GND to mute. Solve this by getting a little 12V reed relay + 1N4001 diode for across the coil from Radio Shack and switch the mute circuit to ground with this relay.

I am gonna have to check my deck for this ability.
Thanks for the Info Steve
