upgrading sound with OEM HU

Please Help, I have a 99 Tl, like the look and controls of the stock HU. I would like to add an amp, and new door speakers. Is it possible to use a converter to take the signal from the HU and sent it to a amp before it hits the eq? If so, does anyone have any pictures or wiring diagraham? If so will the sub still work with original amp?

Looking for advice, It might be easier to put a new HU in, but I want to keep the stock look

It can be done for sure. I think Iggy have the samilar setup like this which is keeping stock HU and power 4 door speaker with multi-channal amp. You will need 4 channal LOC to get your speaker signal to your amp, rca cable, re run all the speaker wire to 4 door and the most inportant thing is by pass the EQ. Do a search on Iggy's post you will find a lot of info about this project.

i didnt do the EQ bypass that Iggy set up... I basically just tapped the low frequency out from the head unit (before it goes in to the EQ) and that was it... my JL amps converted the low ohm signal for me... Though i lost fading abilities. But its better sound quality than if i did the EQ bypass.

How is the sound now, and what is your speaker set up?
