All depends on what kind of subs you are talking about. You can get two shitty subs or one nice one. I went with one 12 Kicker Solo-Baric. The one 12 will also take up a lot less space than two 10s.

in all honesty, 10s sound 10x's better than 12s. They hit a whole lot cleaner. IF you just get 1 high-end 10, it will be plenty of bass, trust me. Two 10's will sound awesome

buy one of the best sub for whatever your budget is.

if you want to spend $400, one $400 12 is better than two $200 10's.

or one really good 10 is better than two so-so 10's.

brianlin: currently I don't have any subs. In my last car, I started out w/ 2 12" alpine type-r's, then I went down to 1 12" JL W6v2, then 1 12" Cerwin Vega pos, then to 1 10" Infinity Kappa PERFECT. The JL W6v2 hits EXTREMELY well for a 12, so I give props to that. My favorite was the Infinity Perfect. It didn't have the extened bass line like 12s do, and it hit really clean. If, or when I choose to get a system in this, I think I'm going to go w/ 10" JL W6v2's, either 1 or 2, not sure yet.

if you are going to go w6v2, you might as well go with a w7

It's a matter of 157" of surface area (2 10") vs. 113.04 of surface area (1 12"). Sure, quality matters, but apples for apples, surface area will determine how much bass you will yield.

actually I prefer the W6v2 over the W7. The W7 is just too much for me.

That would cost most people at atleast 190$ (new) more not to mention you will need quite a bigger amp to RMS and similar<better performance

subs

sorry guys. I know I haven't been on lately but I've been in a bind for some time now. But I do appreciate all of the info. and advice that all of you have been giving. It's just that my wife is having some after birth complication and now I might have to pay for hospital bills mostly on my own. The system that was designed to help tax payers in a bind like me is now f@cking me over. But I gotta admit, ever since I found this site I've been alot prouder of being a CL owner. Catch you guys when I get the chance. PEACE

I just had the same dilemma. I decided to go with the 1 12w7. I heard it hits hard...maybe too hard, but what the hell. I'll be using a JL 500/1 to power it. I'll let you know!
