tweeter mounting location

i just picked up a set of polk sr6500 components. was wondering where to mount the tweeters. don't look like it will fit in stock location. don't want to hack and slash the car if possible since i might be changing speakers in the future.

Experimentation will always find the right answer, but I have found that almost always an A-pillar installation works best if you have time alignment available to you and you are running active. If you are not running active and do not have time alignment abilities, then you are best off keeping that tweeter as close to the woofer as possible, to avoid coherence issues.

I pulled the door panels off, removed the grills, cut a hole in the non-perforated part of the grill and mounted my tweeter there. Then I put on new grill cloth and re-attached it to the door panel. It looks stock and keeps the tweeter close to the midrange.

Yep and if you don't have active control over those woofers and tweeters with processing, go with Steven's solution here. If you don't, you could easily run into non-coherence, which is fatiguing as hell.

I maintain the A-pillars to be one of the best places if you do have active control of the speakers, however.

And in my car, with those woofers correctly delayed and processed so the tweeters arrive in time with them, I have a very deep and very high sound stage, positively anchored up front.
