Tweeter Flush Mount in Door Panel

I am new to the site. I have been using the site since I bought my 2G TL, but just now decided to register. I just ordered 2 sets of Infinity Kappa Series component speakers for the front doors of the car. I am wondering in anyone else has ever tried flush mounting the tweeters from this kind of set, or a similar set, in the remaining speaker grille area in the door? I want to mount the tweeters in an easy to return to stock location, and as there is not a sail panel on the rear doors, I am thinking in the speaker "grille" area in each door, as those pieces come off the door panel for easy replacement. But my concern is the depth of the mount that comes with these speakers. If anyone can offer me some help before I start cutting holes, I would be greatly appreciative.

You can HIDE the tweeter inside the door panel right beside your speaker. Scroll down here to see how it's done...

This is what I did because I don't want any aftermarket speakers/tweeters to be visible to thieves. But I also used a dremel to carefully scrape away the plastic so the tweeter has no obstruction and can pump out its sound (the article author didn't do that). If you are careful and go slowly, your dremel wheel cutter won't hit the fabric on the outer panel of the door. Took about 15 min.

Great. Thanks. I will try that first. I will just have to play around with it when I get the speakers in.

I was lazy so I just Flushed mine into the A-Pillars:
I wanted to do Sails but I didnt have Bondo at the time to Play with them.

Doing all the Wiring is Easy as Hell too... Why do you Want Components on the Rear? IMO just get Co-Axials and call it a Day.....

The problem with the sail panels and the A pillars is that the flush mounts for the speakers are huge, and won't fit. The speaker is over an inch, and the hole size you have to cut for the flush mount is 2 3/8" so my mounting options are kind of limited. I decided to go with the speaker grille because it can be removed from the door panel, making it easily removable and replacable if I decide to change something down the road, or if I sell the car. And the reason I am using components in the back is because I found 2 sets of component speakers for less than what Crutchfield wants for one. I couldn't pass up a deal like that, plus I like fact that it will be consistant from front to back.

Thanks bud!

I have my JL-C5 components up front and Co-Axs in the Back..
Up front they didnt fit so I had to do a Custom Set Up since the Magnet was just too damn Big...
The sound was OK when installed closer (Tweet+Spkr) but it wasnt Until I moved the Tweet to the A-Pillar Ive got my Sound Stage right.

You should try to get some Junkyard A-Pillars so you can Flush Them and Re-Do them when you are up to sell the car or such... Those things arent that Expensive anymore.

That is if I can get my sidejob done the next two days after work. I am putting a new oilpan on a buddy's 98 Accord V6. I haven't done any major work on any hondas since I left the dealership a few years ago, so it will be fun to dive into one for a couple of days.

So I am going to have to go with the co-ax in the rear. There is not enough room to mount the tweeters in the rear speaker panels, and there is no where else to flush mount them that I feel will look good. I am now trying to sell the kappa series 5 1/4" components I bought.
