A TSX Harness and life update

I have received a lot of PMs and email lately about the TSX harness and wanted to give an update on what has been happening the last few months. Don’t worry, as of right now more harnesses are coming.

Last spring my HD failed and I lost all of my wiring diagrams, schematics and PCB layouts, this included the BALUN and the TSX connector. At the time interest in the harness was way down so I did not bother to draw up new artwork. Towards the end of the summer I had a few requests so I set out to do a new connector but I had a lot on my plate like going to Italy for my daughters wedding, that I figured it could wait until I got back in October. Well while I was in Italy my brother passed away from complications of Diabetes and this really shut me down. I figured at this point I would just get through the holidays and then get back at it. Well during the holidays my sister got hospitalized because of her Diabetes and she also passed away last week. My brother was 63 and my sister was 62, a few years back I lost another brother, only 50 from Diabetes. Diabetes sucks.

I am working on new connector art work now and should have it finished in a few days; one of my goals is to make it easier to assemble then the old design. I appreciate everyone’s patience and I figure it will be about three weeks before the new harness is ready.

Thanks
Jeff

Hey Jeff. I'm sorry to hear about your latest loss. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. I totally know where you're coming from though, my father has diabetes and is currently in the hospital for his blood sugar levels. I echo your sentiment in that diabetes does suck.

Like I've mentioned in a previous PM with you, I think its a great thing that you're still up to making harnesses for all of us and I look forward to when they'll be available. Thanks for keeping us updated. Take it easy.

- John

Jeff sorry to hear about your family's losses. I have a couple questions regarding the harness as I am currently in the process of trying to make my own harness from your previous posts. I have come up with a possible new way to implement the harness as well.

Regarding the shielding wire. What is the purpose of the shielding wire as it actually connects to nothing on either end of the harness.

Please PM me or email me regarding the new way to connect the harness if you are interested.

Wow man...sorry about your losses. I feel your pain though, my fiance's family is riddled with diabetes and mine with cancer...so that sort of stuff is always harder to hear.

First off, thanks to everyone for your kind words and support,

Second, I completed the art work and sent it off and have ordered the RCA connectors. I should have everything by the end of next week. I only have enough cable to build 5 harnesses, Please PM me with a definite “Yes” if you want a harness so I will know if I have to order more cable.

I will have harnesses by the first week of March.

Thanks again
Jeff

what changes are you making in this harness compared to the last. In posts I was reading about a version 2 of the first harness your were making. What did that include that the first one did not include.

Hi Mercman, I hope everything is well.

I have a question about your harness. Is the harness for the TSX and Civic (with Navi) the same?

The TSX harness will work in the Civics with the “Premium Sound” system, the front of the HU will say “Premium Sound” if you have it.

Thanks Jonesi !
I picked up an 09 Tech package an I have already started to work on upgrading the amp and speakers. I have info on the Premium system (Base TSX) and will be working on an amp upgrade of it as well.

Hi Mercman,
I have an 06 TSX and I'm interested in purchasing a harness and interface converter from you so I can replace my factory amp. Do you have any available? My email address is terp5-va@yahoo.com. I hope all is well with you.

Thanks,
Peter

FYI, I don't think any of you guys will get a response. Last I heard Mercman was banned from this site without any warning for selling this and not being an official vendor.

I’m back but laid up at the moment, tore my rotator cuff so I have been avoiding the computer (hard to type).

Yes I did some big time research on the tech system but have not been able to come up with a solution yet. I know what I have to do but can not invest the time to do it.

The base or premium system should be no problem and I just need to get one to measure the signal levels. I’m redesigning the interface converter (BALUN) to include the extra sub channel.

Thanks jiggaman, I understand that it is the most complicated joint in the body. I’m using the same surgeon that fixed my right shoulder and my knee so I’m not too worried.
