Trunk Rattles!!

i hate it...the trunk rattles like mad with the subs and they dont even push that much. it sounds like total crap, is there anything i can do to remedy this? i did that little trick with the rubber knob things on the trunk but that only worked a little.

Dyna-mat!!! other than that and the rubber knob trick i wouldn't know... There is this foam that also helps with rattles but i wouldn't recommend it because once it gets old it starts to fall apart. Old as in about 6 to 12 months old...

I recomment Dyna-mat the trunk and any other part of the car like the doors that will be effected by vibrations... but if you have the time and money then i recommend just doing the whole interior of the car and the whole trunk...

I am having this problem in my 97 accord with my new subs. Is there any cheaper alternative to dynamat that is decent? I have heard only good things about dynamat but $100 is alot to pay for some foam in ur trunk. Anyone know of any decent sprays etc?

I have dynamat all over my trunk...mine still rattles when I blast it.

Do a search, this topic is all over...but like I have said before, it is the subs moving the air inside your trunk that makes it rattle. The only thing you can do to get rid of it is point your subs either up (most mustangs have to get done like this), or point them toward the cabin. That being said, pointing them toward the back is ideal for sound levels.

So get some Dynamat, or something similar, and learn to live with it. The air pressure is just too much in an enclosed trunk to keep the trunk lid from moving.

Also, is your stock sub out? If not that will help to let some of the sound get into the cabin easier.

i personally would recommend RAAMmat60.... www.raamaudio.com/products.htm It's 60ml thick and priced MUCH MUCH lower than Dynamat. I've had several friends use this and they all loved it!!

You can also try FATMAT www.fatmat.com It's only about 45ml thick but it's cheaper than even the RAAMmat.

Check a local hardware store for some "Peel N Seel" it's basically the same thing except amazingly cheaper. I

believe reading someone talked to the company that produces Peel N Seel and they said they sell product to a company whos focus is car audio. If I can find the link I'll show you.

edit: heres the link: http://www.caraudiolounge.com/index.php?showtopic=5146

I never got around to doing this on my old car, but I am seriously considering it on this car, especially once I have some extra money for a sub/amp.
Another post of mine on a smiliar subject, and yes, it should be in the roofing section. Read those threads over if you'd like, you would be suprised at what you may read.

They are both a elastomeric butyl with an aluminum constrained-layer. I don’t see a lot of differences between the two but the price…

It turns out that they also make the same product for two other companies that market the product for car audio vibration dampening. He couldn’t disclose who, which I understand, but it does prove a point.
I think those were the two biggest things, I am probably doing mine sometime this winter, at the same time as a sub/amp. Hopefully going to do the doors too

Is there anything else i should get with the peal and seal? I will get the roller but are there any sprays or anything i should get that would help stop vibration even more?
