trouble with amp!?!?

I have a KAC-7251 Kenwood 800 watt amp running a single 12" Kicker solobaric l5 sub ... problem is that it would work for like 3 minutes whenever i start my car then it stops... i use a dmm and it reads that there is power stil running through them... i then disconnect the power from the amp and re install , then it works again... after a few minutes it stops

could this be an amp problem... i checked all the fuses, all is good... I have no idea
or could the wiring have anything to do with it even though there is about 13-14 volts stil reading on the dmm

any help would be great..

That amp does not have enough power for that sub. The amp is probably going into "PROTECT" mode. Also.. your power and ground wire could be too small.

You're triggering the protection

Just looked up that it's only 460 w rms. How do you have the sub wired? What ohms are you voice coils?

The amp may be fried.

i had 2 30's and on his were 2 20's...
soo i switched them out and now everything seemed to be working fine...
i don't know if that was the main source for the problem or y... but as for now, its working..
