Thumbs Up for USA-Spec and iPod
Hey guys, I've been in the market for an iPod adapter for my 2002 Nissan Pathfinder as well as my wife's 2005 TSX (non-navi). Her birthday is coming up so I'm buying her a 30BG Video iPod and the adapter for her car. I just put mine in the Pathy this weekend and beyond the trouble to pull the radio all else is cake and I love the sound and features of this adapter.
I've read about all the horror stories these other guys have with Denison, Ice-Link and others, and also tried the FM transmitter route with no satisfaction. I liked the idea behind the Harmon-Kardon display, but just didin't want the hassle of mounting and such. The USA-Spec allows my iPod to sit either in the glovebox or on my console so that I can use either the iPod controls or the steering wheel to shuffle through the songs. I chose the "Direct-play" mode for that very reason; I like knowing what song is playing as well as the ability to "dial in" and artist or album. If using the "Playlist" mode you have 5 pre-configured playlists to choose from or the 6th channel which is ALL songs on the iPod. #6 is of little use to me as I have over 10k songs I'd have to run through and I'd never find what I wanted specifically. Anyway, that was my reasoning and I have nothing but kudos for the sound and operation of the USA-Spec adapter.

You can do it either way. There is a 'direct' mode that allows you to use the stereo controls in association with the iPod playlists, or a normal access mode, where you just control the iPod to pick songs. Even on that mode, track +/- still works to move through songs, such as in an album. Its easy to change between them by flipping a switch on the unit. All of this info is on the usa spec page.
