FYI

I noticed this store was in my area so I drove by. Turns out it's just a mail box place, like Mail Boxes Etc. I know for a fact that Image Dynamics is very particular who they authorize as dealers and that internet sales are forbidden. I think SoundDomain is the only website they authorize. Anyhow, check out what else I found on their web page. Sounds like a shady company to me:

"We are not, nor do we claim to be an authorized dealer on any of the brands we carry. Therefore, many manufacturers warrenties do not apply to the products we sell. Soon we will be offering warranties through RepairMaster. We have chosen not to become authorized because this allows us to offer you the lowest price possible. Many manufacturers set minimum selling prices on their products but since we are not authorized, we are free to set prices as we please. "

ITS NOT A REAL STORE!! your happy buying from a company whos address is a postal supply store?

That doesnt make anything in your head say wow maybe this is too good of a deal Anyhow, if they're not an authorized dealer Image Dynamics will not warranty the product if anything were to go wrong.

Hey guys. I stumbled upon this forum somehow when I was looking up information on CarTronixs.com. I actually live in the same area as his so called shop also. I called him one day and he said that he has his mail delivered to Postnet (just like MailBoxes exc.) just like many other business have theirs delivered to. I know many businesses including government businesses who have their mail delivered to a PO box. Postnet and MailBoxes Exc offer mail boxes w/o a PO number so all companies will send to them. OK moving on to the authorized dealer thing. I actually asked him about that as I was kinda concerned also. He met me up at Starbucks and showed me a paper faxed to him from Image Dynamics that said something along the lines of "congratulations. Your application to become an authorized Image Dynamics dealer has been accepted on a prepaid COD status." or something like that. Either way he was a really cool guy, (had one HELL of a stereo system in his mustang), and really seemed like an honest person. Anyways after meeting him I surely will be putting my order in for the IDMax 12's soon.

funny. Theres only two AUTHORIZED Image Dynamics dealers in Arizona. I personally know one of them and the other is in tucson. When did he show you this said "faxed" documment? Also where is the store? I do know if he is an authorized dealer he signed a contract stating he WONT be selling online or through mail order. Oh well. I am only looking out for you all. Just be carefull and heck call Image Dynamics and see what they say. 18008363051
oh by the way. If any of you didnt know. Unless the id max is installed by an authorized dealer you get a 90 day warranty rather than the 2 year warranty. Just some food for thought.

I assume this is Aaron's friend again...not Aaron (for those that don't know Aaron's allowing some other guy to post under his name). Look bud, two things. First, get your own damn name so I don't accidentally bitch out Aaron when you say something stupid. And second a lot of people buy unauthorized. Sorry if you're so anal about it because you own a shop and are so gung ho. Chill out yo.

The fact that you immediately jump on any unauthorized dealer makes you look weak. Are you scared of them? Are you scared of me? If you aren't...then why did you bitch me out for a full PAGE telling me how stupid I was for trying to hook everyone up here with dealer sheet cost for JL subs? If you are...well...maybe you should improve your business. But I find it really pathetic that you automatically equate untrustworthy with unauthorized. All authorization means is that the dealer promises the company to help them keep their prices at a good, profitable margin, and make the manufacturer look good by getting people who go through cheezy certifications in exchange for being called "authorized". This "authorization" speaks nothing for the dealer, his morals and values, his skill, or his fairness. More authorized dealers have tried to screw me than unauthorized...trying to sell me JL 12w7's at $850-1000, with similar markups on everything else they sell assuming I know nothing. It's interesting to walk into a store...and watch two people...one say 40 year old mother buying a christmas present for her son...and one 20 year old guy wearing an IASCA shirt. The same dealer will come up to the mother...offer her $700 for a JL 500.1...and when she leaves he immediately turns around and offers the 20 year old guy $400. Now how do I know this? Guess who was the 20 year old guy wearing an IASCA shirt.

Why do you think I'm so extremely picky when people ask for "good" shops? Because a lot of shops that are "authorized" for just about everything are complete scum.

Now...what I am not saying is that there are bad people online. There are plenty. Just like people can prey on ignorance for shops, they can prey on not dealing face to face with the customer. Yes, I have had instances where I say, bought something on eBay and had trouble with the seller. But online, unauthorized, levels the playing field. Someone can't be there online selling that amp for $700...that 20 year old kid would have posted he got it for $400 and the 40 year old mother would now know better. Why the huge push AGAINST online sales? No, it's not that it gives manufacturers a bad name...or that you can't trust the products. That can be shot down by just pointing out that a lot of dealers only authorize Crutchfield. Why? Because they keep the prices nice and high.

So in conclusion...don't feed everyone this unauthorized bullshit. You are much more likely to get screwed out of your money at a dealer than online...online you have insurance. The warranty issues, easy, find a dealer, such as mine, that will offer his own warranty to make up for the lack of manufacturer's warranty. As I said before...my brother sent his blown subwoofers in, they repaired them, he paid $50 s/h, and they shipped them back. He has now already sold them online gotten another set of 3 13w7's through me.

God knows you're going to have some huge blithering reply...oh well...

Wow...what's the world coming to these days that we can make peace and be friends? Holy hell. Guys if you're curious we talked and are cool with each other. I still think you're biased towards shops but well

And I agree the authorized/non authorized is a bit weird. Either or is ok...but wavering in between is kinda...hmmm.

And good...I can't wait to see your long posts again under your new name

I would have to agree with Aaron here. One page of his site, he said he's not an authorized dealer for any of the products that he sells. One the IDMax's groupbuy page, he said he's authorized. I think it's shady too.

Buying from unauthorized dealer? I have no problem as long as the dealer offers some sort of warranty and a good price.

After meeting the guys I am totally confident that the order will be filled. In fact I know he has 6 in stock right now (as I was just talking with him about it) and I was actually checking one out over there earlier today when Image Dynamics called him and he ordered 10 more.

let me rephrase

if he had 6 id maxes he didnt get them from image dynamics and if he WAS to get any id products hes at least 5-6 weeks out

oh and the only person being "fucked" would be you all

well that is unless you want to buy a sub and wait till the end of that group buy thing then wait a month and a half for your stuff

oh and the whole 90 day warranty thing sounds GREAT

sounds like im the bad guy

unauthorized dealers

THE DEAL I HEARD WITH UNAUTHORIZED DEALERS IS THAT COMPANIES WONT GIVE FULL WARRANTIES WITH UNAUTHORIZATION, SO BE CAREFUL. AND BY THE WAY, IF YOU ARENT CONCERNED ABOUT A 1 YEAR.OR WHATEVER, WARRANTY THEN DOESNT IT REALLY MATTER HOW GOOD THE SHOP IS IN DOING THE INSTALL? BIG DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A COMPETITION BOX AND A CIRCUIT CITY MDF GLUED BOX.

Don't label Authorized and Unauthorized dealers to be good/bad just because they are Authorized or Unauthorized. Put a little substance behind your arguements. I know a lot of authorized dealers that suck horribly (coughcoughbestbuycoughcough). And I also know a lot of unauthorized dealers that are excellent. Label them on a per-business basis. I.E. Best Buy sucks, Ford & Garland rocks
