For those who installed the diamond audio's
I just bought a pair of diamond audio's component for the front door and i was wondering how did you fit the speakers without cutting into the door frame. Also if you have any advice on where to put the tweeters.. i dislike the sticking out look so do you guys have any suggestions?
I put the M661's in my front doors. I made a trim ring or spacer for the mid. I only had to trim the opening a tiny bit to allow for the pod where the speaker wires go. Was really easy. I will agree that the plastic panel in the corner of the window does not look the best but, the found is awesome from there. Without mounting it there, you could make a bracket and let it mount in front of the mid, like a coaxial. Other than that, you are looking at either cutting the door panel to flush mount, or maybe build or buy some kicker panels.

so u put the m661 tweeters in the plastic part of your window? it sticks out alot though... u trimmed the plastic bracket for the mids? to me it seems like it is missing a lot of space... how big of a spacer did u use? thanks.. i'm trying to do this myself and this is my first time.. so thanks for answering
Yes the tweet does stick out quite a bit but, I do not mind for the sound that I get. It really moves the soundstage well up on the dash. The sound appears to come from up on the hood as opposed to from the steering wheel. I am not sure what you mean by "trimming the plastic bracket for the mid". The metal door has to be trimmed a bit. I got some pics back of the Diamond mid and xover. I will try to post later.
