Arrow Thinking about installing TV myself. HELP!!

Club,
I am very intrested in installing a TV in my car. Today I took off all my wood trim to get it wrapped tommorow, I got the idea from Chien. But since I took everyhting out I was wondering if I could install a TV where the A/C controls are as well as the clock but leaving the A/C ducts of course. Dihren has the set up i am looking for but i do not have a navi. I am thinking about putting a 5.6 in. or a 6.4 in. moniter there. I would also need to relocate the A/C controls where my cupholder is or in the glove box. I would have to individually leghnthn each wire so it can go under the side wood trim to that location. I would also have to make a mount which I dont know how to do. Any info or help would be great. Dihren if your out there could you help me out.Well let me know what you guys think. oh ya wanna hook PS2 to it also.

sounds like alot more trouble than it is really worth... i would say just replace the stock hu with an aftermarket hu with a motorized tv like the pioneer which has a built in dvd player also or maybe even the alpine screen i am sure it will cost a lot less this way and probably look just as good... but if you still insist on doing it your way this is how i thought about trying it.... go to the dealer and by the navi dash piece then buy the piece that houses the a/c controls right above the hu... the only thing you will have to modify is the fan/blower control and maybe the mode button but to do that you can just cut a hole in the dash piece and locate it beside the screen... that is just my thoughts...

i dont think you want to do this, since that means that you wont be able to control fan speed, ac on/off, or position since that is on the nav screen, not the buttons...

if you really want to put a tv there...you will have to take alot of stuff apart...so be prepared for that, relocating the current ac controls should be easy, being that you can simply extend the wires, but i think that would be the easiest part of this mod...everything else would be hard to do, so save yourself the trouble and get a motorized screen on a HU.

of course if you can pull this off...make sure to take pix...

How much do you think a NAvi will cost from Acura? You think there are any used ones available?

Unless for some reason someone is selling navi VERY cheap on here...you'd be better off with a motorized single DIN screen...or just do what I'm going to do. That being rip out the Bose stuff, leave the AC controls alone...and in your case (not mine as I'm using a computer) but put a nice big 7" widescreen in the empty space, a DVDROM w/ Navi above or below it (your choice), make a nice black plastic cover over it...and be done with it. I believe Silverknight had the plastic at some time...may want to ask him if he has any left. I would think that would run you cheaper than the POS Acura Navi, allow you more function (aka watch DVDs, etc etc etc), and allow you to attach other external devices. Or you could go the computer route...

Easy...the computer is an ongoing project...it'll first just do my stereo system (5.1 output), equalizer, video, mp3, music videos, mpg4, dvd, as well as burn cdr's for me if need be and rip friend's music. It'll have access to the internet through wireless LAN or through my cell phone if away from the local area...a lot of other goodies...and the crazy thing is that it'll cost less than in dash motorized dvd...but well. As for the Acura Navi...it's just repackaged, and it isn't very flexible IMHO...not like the computer...
