I haven't had any problems seeing it in direct sunlight, but I haven't had it for very long.

YOU CAN'T SEE THE SCREEN when you have the sunscreen cover OPENED. The sun will shine on it and you can't see jack shit. It's annoying..so during the hot sunny days, you have to have your sunscreen shade CLOSED!

Get it, there is so much stuff u can do with it once its there. Think about it this way, if u dont get the factory nav for 2g's you will probably pay 3 to 4 g's trying to get an aftermarket nav installed.

I primarily bought it for the "cool gizmo" factor, thinking I would play with it for a month or two and then it would just sit there and look pretty.

My actual experience is that I use it all of the time, and my opinion now is that I will never get a car without a nav system.

I live in the greater L.A. area so everything is pretty well mapped out for me. Other people who live in less populated areas have found the nav less useful due to poor coverage.

You location says Island so depending on how big the thing is, who knows if the nav would be useful. :grins:

I wholeheartedly agree! GET IT!

It is wonderful... I can't say I use it everyday, but I use it quite a bit. After having this car for almost 3 years (WOW!) I haven't had a day yet that I regreted buying it. As a matter of fact, it is the best $2000 I've spent on my car!

I can't tell you how many times I've been riding in a different car and wish it had one. It will become something you expect to have at your fingertips.

Plus, after hacking it, being able to watch movies on something built into the dash, as opposed to these clunky, in-the-way flip out screens is great. Plus it impresses people much more than those aftermarket screens too. (if you're into that )

I will warn you, if you get it, you will never be able to get a car without one!

I say you should get it without navi for now since you're not really sure you need or want it. If you decide later on that you want it, you can get a nice aftermarket one from Pioneer or whatever brand you prefer. I like the motorized screens more than the fixed screens.

Thank you all for your help!! Anyone have any NAV screen shots I am curious of what type of options it has as well... also does it have "voice-guidance system" or is strictly a visual type of navigation unit. What i mean is ..does it recogize your voice commands and does it also verbally tell you to turn left here or 5 miles til next exit ramp... and stuff.

Sorry for all the questions but sometimes a salesman will tell you anyhting and I just don't feel like being taking for a ride like that!

Thanks Again

Our navi does not have voice recognition, but it does 'talk' to you as you are approaching turns or your destination.

Basically you type in the address of where you want to go (which takes a little practice to find stuff you are looking for, but it can be done) and then it computes the route and talks you through it.

For instance, as you approach at necessary turn, it will say 'turn right, 1/2 mile ahead' and then as you get closer, it will say 'turn right here'. Keep in mind that replacing the factory stereo makes it difficult to keep the navi voice.

I don't have any pictures during the day, but I bet you can find them on the acura site itself. Here's one of the dvd on navi hack at night...

I happen to use it a lot. I get lazy trying to get directions, so I just input the address & go. If you travel a lot by car, it will come in very handy. The list of ATM's, restaurants, gas stations, etc, is great. I use it alot locally & also when I travel.

GET IT STOCK!! I made the mistake of not getting that option when I purchased mine and I just finished dropping $3,800 in nav, dvd/cd, infinity speakers, & installation when I could have just paid like $2,500 for the stock one.

Now that I have nav, I'll never own another car without it. If you do go aftermarket, I love my Pioneer. Voice commands kick ass! :P

Thanks for all your help everyone.... I am really leaning on getting the nav..

and one other question not to be a pain... but in the options list can you opt to have the voice commands on and off when you power up the nav..?

Thanks Again

I'll keep you all posted on what I finally decide to get!

You will not regret it! That is unless you don't get it.

You can adjust the volume of the voice from off to high. It doesn't make any noise when it starts up though, only when it is giving you directions to get somewhere.
