I found the ignition wire that runs to my head unit and I was wondering if I tapped that wire would there be any problems or do I need to find the "master" wire where everything that runs from the ignition taps into.

 

I guess it might depend on what you were doing with this wire eggszackly...

 

I am using it to send a signal to my shutdown/startup controller for my computer. I have been searching this site for days and I can't find any post that tells where the ignition wire is located to tap. I tried to find the master DIY post but can't find that either. I tried tapping the wire to the head unit but it put static in my speakers so now I am back to trying to find the main wire.

 

Are you talking about the power wire that runs power to the HU when the car starts?

Does anyone know where the main ignition wire is? Anyone?! Is it yellow is it red is it purple? I need a wiring diagram of my car but I have been searching this sit and the internet and can't find shit. Do people not normally mess with this wire? I need it because I need to send a signal to my cars shutdown controller.

 

In my TSX I think that wire is yellow with a red stripe. It's the same in my truck. It's very common for the ACC wire to be yllow with a red stripe. Look for that color on the back of the HU and test to see if it turns on and off with the car. Sometimes the yellow/red is constatnt power. So make sure to check it.
