Sweet OEM 6" Replacements

http://www.partsexpress.com/pe/showd...number=295-372

Anyone wanna test these speakers out against the stock TSX ones?

Pretty nice sensitivity rating and the depth isn't too bad, but you will want to use a spacer anyway.

Hey, how big of a speaker can you put in the rear doors? (Do you have more depth to work with than the fronts?)

Ummm Dayton audio is a really good brand of speakers. I personally think they sound great. Do you actually companies like JL and Alpine make speakers in house.

My alpine type X are really called Scan Speak, they sell them to alpine and alpine makes a killing.

daytons are some of the best bang for your buck mids that you can find

many compare them to the seas reference line, which goes for at least like 3 times the price. plus these are the brand new mobile audio version, before they only came in a 8ohm shielded version, that only a few people took the trouble to take off the shielding and use it in a mobile application.

I'm curious how they would be for stock replacements, i'm probably going to be using a pair of the 7" in a DIY active component set up, once i am ready to install everything....which might be a while. hopefully they don't raise the price anytime soon.

Before you bash Dayton, you need to hear them. Since when do we listen with our eyes vs our ears???

Daytons sound fucking amazing. Also I would not replace them with stock unless you are going to amp them.

40W rms, 65W max, 92db. It looks like a very good match for the OEM amp in the TSX.

I would think no less room than in the fronts. These Daytons would most likely require a 1/2-3/4 inch spacer (C=2-3/4, depth?).

Most of the Daytons are knockoffs of Euro Seas and Vifa and such...not bad speaks. Most of the 6.5s have HUGE magnets and won't go into a TSX without the electric machete.

Don't know if I've seen a definitive answer. 360W, 8 speakers is what is advertised. That 360W is most likely max and not rms. Considering that people report a slight decrease in volume when they put in the Alpine Type S which are 92db, 40rms, 200max I figure the stockies are probably 94db.

I don't know about fitment on the rear doors though. The duderino ^^ would know best.

stocks cant be 94, if type S is 92, you need at least 3db differ even to notice a differ in volume. At the least stock must be 96.

yep 2-3/4" = depth, i'm pretty sure....that doesn't seem that HUGE

i think the old 8-ohm shielded ones were a good 1/2 inch fatter, and would have to be debucked to fit in most applications.

I stand corrected.

Also, this speaker is not listed under their "Car Audio" section but rather seems to be for home speaker building applications. Should I be concerned about using this in a car door? After all, there is potential of water getting into the door cavity and on the speaker.

Naw I wouldnt worry much. If you want you can make a baffle. Which will also help with the midbass responce.
