Subwoofer Trouble!!

I have a 10" Diamond Audio D310D4 sub powered by a Kicker zx1000.1 mono amp. I have successfully run power and remote power to my amplifier, so the light comes and all that good stuff. Furthermore, I purchased 2 honda speaker wire harnesses from crutchfield and plugged the factory harness connectors to them, then to an LOC, and from LOC RCA outputs to the RCA outputs on my amp. All polarity and connections are correct. Here is where the problem lies...when I connect my subwoofer to the amp, I get no sound ...I used 12 AWG monster cable speaker wire, and wired using parallel and serial configurations but still nothing. Using a voltmeter failed to show me that any current is even traveling through the speaker wires to the sub, nor is there any current coming directly from the terminals. Do the wires in the speaker from the coils need to be connected to the terminals (tried it anyway, but just asking...)?Any suggestions at all...anyone...please...ACK!!!!!!!! Hope some pictures help describe a little better...thanks guys

LOC with RCA cables going to amplifier.

Amplifier power light...it is on so that's not the problem.

RCA cables from LOC, and speaker wire outputs for subwoofer.

Magnet of by sub.

Factory speaker harness to LOC using honda adapter.

This probably makes it more confusing, but Im a noob....the speaker wires from amp to sub show resistance (ohms) on the voltmeter, but when the voltmeter is set to read volts or amps, there is no current shown....wtf son? What's more...diamond audio phone numbers for customer service and tech support are not in service....perfect

Have you tried plugging something else into the inputs to verify that the amp is good. (maybe an ipod or portable CD player) I know it's just a sub so you won't get full range, but will verify that the amp is good and that the wiring between the amp and sub are good. If that works, you can then focus your troubleshooting on the LOC and connections before the amp. Will eliminate a few variables and help isolate the problem.

I'm guessing you switched the polarity on 2 signal wires somewhere by accident. Those locs can be labeled poorly / not at all.

Another thing you can do to troubleshoot: plug the original 6x9s back in and make sure you're getting something through those still! That will prove the signal is getting as far as your harnesses. Combined w/ the above idea from bullyx2, that will allow you to see if it is a loc / wiring problem or an amp / wiring side problem. That would be a good start for troubleshooting.

Thanks guys....I know the harnesses are sending signal, becuase when I unplug them from the LOC back to the 6x9's..they beat. I think I may have a dud speaker, so imma take it to an audio shop so they can test it. Ill quadruple check all the polarity anyway cuz I have no other alternative.

• With your volt meter set for DC volts check for 12V between the amp power terminal, and the ground terminal, did you install the fuse at the battery, did you connect the ground wire?

• Did you connect the remote turn on? Do you have 12 volts on the remote turn on terminal?

• You can check the woofer by disconnecting the amp and using the ohm meter set for low ohms. You should see just a few ohms, with the meter connected to the sub you can gently push the cone in and the ohms reading will jump. If so, the woofer is good enough to make noise when a signal is applied.

• If you want to see if the amp is “putting out” then set the meter for AC volts and measure across the speaker out terminals.

• The rears work off of the rear channel feed so you have to adjust your fader to send signal to the rear.

Just got back from an audio shop...

They told me the speaker was blown...

Funny I never used it before and bought it "brand new" as advertised from HiFiSoundConnection.com....

Even funnier, ALL representatives from ALL departments are assisting other customers during business hours....

Good thing I paid with paypal...
